I See My Future: No Sweeteners In It

You know the first artificial sweetener I used? You can pinpoint my age if you guessed cyclamates. I've used them all, sometimes washing down carrot cake with a diet coke because I just couldn't drink a soda with 6 tsp. of sugar in it, you see! Decision made 2 wks ago: no more artificial sweeteners, no more sugar. In fact, I have let go of a lot of foods that were weighing me down, literally and figuratively. It is never too late to change, I've come to believe. Looking forward to getting a lot of benefit from this site! Your stories will help me- keep on writing, please.

For weight loss, all that matters is calories. The calories in artificial sweeteners are negligible. I've dropped 108 lbs drinking at least a litre of diet cola daily.5 -

What about naturally-occurring sugar such as that found in fruit? Or is that on the "no" list, as well?
From your post, the issue wasn't with the diet coke. The carrot cake was the calorie bomb. And cake derives as much of its calories from fat as it does sugar, so why is sugar the bad guy?
It has been my experience that overly-restrictive diets that completely eliminate certain foods tend to last about as long as the resolve does. Long-term? Likely not sustainable. Most people find success with a more middle-of-the-road approach, by logging their foods, having a healthy distribution of macros, and allowing room for a few treats now and then.

best of luck.
i found your other post and you specify avoiding foods that trigger over eating and that is terrific. as well as avoiding adding sugar. again that's great.
You will find some resistance to this post by saying "no sugar" which is near impossible when you likely mean reducing added sugars and avoiding trigger foods which is different than "no sugar".
