Enough is enough...

Hi All!

I’m Maggie and I live in Glasgow :) 25 years’ old, had struggled with my weight and body image most of my life. I used to be a chubby child but then started ballet school and competitive swimming - that helped a lot with keeping weight in check... I stopped swimming competively at 13 and that’s when I became anorexic. I was so scared of putting weight on, that I was practically starving myself. At 16 I got to the other end of the spectrum - got scared when my periods stopped, hair started falling off etc so I stopped weighing myself. At all. Then came undiagnosed anxiety and binge eating...

Well fast-forward, I struggle a lot with my weight. I’m at 16st being just 5ft2. I get tired walking up the stairs or even getting a shower or tying my shoe laces... Decided that enough is enough. I need to do it for myself, for my health.

I’m also getting married in Feb 2020 but have no pressure with the dress as I have it - although would be nice to have it taken in 😂👍🏻

I hate jogging 🙈 but enjoy going to the gym (have a good training programme :)) and walking my dog (soon two dogs!).

Might give jogging another go once I lose some weight... But I didn’t enjoy it even when I was slim! Thanks though :)

Well done, you have done the first step! Trust MFP - let them do your calculations and you chose the macros (carbs, fat, protein) you are comfortable with on a daily basis. There are so many members out there who are supportive, just stick with it. (I started on 170 kg / 26 something stones, that was 400 days ago. So far I have lost 32 kg - 5 stone.)

Just get yourself a digital food scale and start weighing and measuring all your food and drink. Try to stay within your daily calorie goal everyday. As for exercise, it's important that you do something you like so you'll stick with it. If you are a swimmer, you could go back to that. There are so many ways to get exercise in. A calorie deficit is what you need to lose weight, but exercise will give you a better body when you're done with weight loss. Good luck and I'm sure you'll be a lovely bride.
