What's your excuse?

I'm really a nerd. Last night, I was reading through the threads and I came across one that was titled, " What is or was your exercise today?" Because I was tired, I misread it and thought that it said, "What is or was your excuse today?"My excuses are getting old, so I thought that it would be a great thread to read. Alas, all I found were a bunch of exercises.

So, I have decided to start the thread myself. What is or was your excuse today? AND more importantly, How are you going to bust through that excuse?

My excuse today was, after eating very carefully for the last couple of days and working out, I was up 3 lbs this morning. My little inner child threw a tantrum and said we weren't going to do this anymore. I busted through my excuse by saying that at least we knew that we were doing everything in our power to change the results. If I was up 3 lbs because of a binge, I would have done the walk of shame and probably wanted to quit anyway. I got up and did my workout and resisted the cookies.

What is your excuse?

Actually I made an excuse TO exercise lol. I was like, okay, I gotta get up and do this, I've been sitting on my *kitten* the past 3 days now. Time to go!

It's waay too hot and muggy outside. We have no AC so I've got 4 fans running. I'm afraid I will melt if I leave my computer chair.

The remedy? The reminder that maybe if I'm sweating more I'll be burning more calories. I'll be up doing my ab workout as soon as I get done answering posts

My excuse: I have worked out ten days in a row with no rest day, and I can't bear the thought of getting into that overchlorinated 82 degree geriatric YMCA pool for another swim workout. I am also feeling really tired and weak. So I'mma relax and recover today.

It was 116 degrees outside yesterday and 112 today. I don't want to leave the house.

It's gorgeous outside and it has been rainy and gross all month. I really want to go sit on a deck after work and drink margaritas.

I really shouldn't workout after work. I should go sit in the sun instead.

I mean really... I can't waste this weather!!! After all, there will be snow soon!
  • I'd have to say migraines. I get them to often, and when it comes on, my head hurts so bad when i move around at all. I take my faithful advil, and have to wait for it to cease before i can continue.

I had a really good excuse TO burn calories - getting all the outdoor furniture into the storage shed before Hurricane Irene!

Today was our staff meeting and the food provided was chineese. I kept telling myself that it was free and you will never go there under other circumstances. I ended up eating a portion but realized the feeling of being bloated and unhappy is not worth some free food.

I'm not making excuses for myself anymore. That's all I've done for years and years, and I'm finally at the point where I want to do this (get a healthy and fit body) so bad I won't allow myself to get off track. Hope that doesn't sound too pious, I'm just really, really committed to doing this now!

I was soooo excited to try Aqua Zumba today, but then a thunderstorm decided to roll through near the time it was supposed to start, so the pool was closed :(

So, I downloaded 30 DS and am going to get started on it as soon as my food digests :)

I love this thread... thanks so much!

My excuse is that my husband took me out for a late lunch that was large and yummy ( I knew I should have worked out before going.) and I am still waiting for my stomach to digest it all. Tomorrow's another day ;)

    bwahaha!!!

I used to use "growing old" as an excuse. But as probably the wisest man ever in the U.S. said:

""We do not stop playing because we are old. We grow old because we stop playing "

My excuses have been plentiful: the chronic, frequent, and debilitating migraines. It's too hot. It's too expensive. I have no one to go with. I'll just end up quitting in a week anyway. I just ate. I'm exhausted. Today, there was no excuse. I got up, grabbed my iPod, and hit the gym. Hopefully, the motivation is still there tomorrow and the next day and the next...

I sunburnt the backs of my thighs and knees a few days ago. It still hurts to have pants on (I have been wearing skirts). The fabric rubbing is not pleasent. I am going to have to wait and see how it is when I get home, but right now it isn't looking good. :ohwell:

I always try to use this one but my conscious (my husband and my child) tell me to drive straight to the gym. :grumble:

You should always have at least one recovery day a week! :)

Today I used the excuse that I wasn't going to workout because there are too many boxes in my room. There really were, if I was going to do the Shred, but thinking about it now, I could have pulled the stationary bike out of the chaos. At least I went for a small hike/walk this afternoon.

Me too, but it stops me from eating!! :glasses:

Mommy makeover surgery 11 days ago. 9 more days before I'm even allowed to *walk* on a treadmill; another month before I'm restriction-free. But I still feel like a slacking p.o.s. SAHM who didn't get sh!+ accomplished today including picking up my 17 month old daughter or cleaning or cooking a darn thing :(
  • My excuse was mother nature...We were getting hit with the outer bands of hurricane Irene and I refused to go anywhere.

The Great Clock Conspiracy of 2011. Quite obviously the cell phone company and the cable company are in cahoots. They messed with the time on my phone and my cable box so that 5 a.m. showed up much sooner than it was actually due. It is not possible that it had been 7 hours since I went to bed. And, furthermore, there is NO WAY that I got a full 10 minutes after hitting that snooze button.

My excuse is not having the time!

I figured out a way to squeeze in workouts, 1/2 hour (30ds) before I get ready for work, 1/2 hour (walking around the track) prior to my son's football practice (I don't want to miss him practicing), then after the kids are settled another 1/2 hour (swimming).

I woke up late this morning, so I didn't get my morning workout in.

For the last week I haven't had time :ohwell: I've been at home after 10 pm almost every night and have to be at work at 9 am (at latest), so.. Surely, the reason why I get home after 10 pm is riding/grooming a horse, so it's sort of like exercise

    But it's Saturday and I don't wanna!

I got past this reason with the same argument that I use on my children when they say stuff like that, "You don't have to want to, you just have to do it!"
