For people who know nothing about Keto

Alot of people seem to be confused with the keto lifestyle. Let this video clear things up. Best video I have seen explaining the overall keto lifestyle. If you aren't watching the whole video at least watch the first 10 minutes to gain some knowledge on it.

I did give it a listen to but I didn't like the interview/dynamic between the two of them. I liked the delivery of Thomas Delaer's information a lot better. He explains it so well And breaks it down. Every topic had an order and its not all over the place IMO. But I do appreciate the share16 -
Too long; didn't watch.16

I'm all for people doing whatever eating plan works for them, and I try to be open to ideas however much I disagree with them.
Saying keto dieters don't lose muscle or have a reduced metabolic rate after weight loss is shady at best. This implies that no other diet/lifestyle can provide that. Happens right around the 9-minute mark and I let him finish that thought before I turned it off.
Increase your protein intake instead of fat and see if you retain muscle mass. Increase your weight training program on whatever random diet and see how your metabolic rate changes...
If you like eating fats, great, do keto. If you don't, then maybe don't do keto. Either way, your weight loss/gain will be determined by how much of whatever it is you are eating, not by what it is.27 -

This is why I mention to atleast watch the first 10 minutes if you don't feel like watching the whole thing.5 -

It is backed up by research but like you said "to each their own". Atleast you were open to watch some of it.21 -

Lost me when he mentioned GMO.15

I guess for those who want to do keto, it could be a good video ( or not, I don't know)
But, no,sorry, not watching even 10 minutes of something that I am not interested in doing.
Good luck to those who enjoy eating keto and do find it a successful strategy.
But me personally - quite happy and successful eating very non-keto so it's not for me.12 -

And thats quite alright. This thread was really for peole who were curious, wanted more information or that are already into the keto lifestyle.9 -
Also, you could just go stand in the supermarket near the avocados and someone will come along and tell you way more about keto than you ever hoped to learn.30

Five months on keto. 50 pounds lost, A1C down from 8.1 to 6, triglycerides cut in half.8

I agree that keto is not the only diet that can provide that. It's not a magic bullet. Keto isn't for everyone. I would go so far as to say it's not for most people. I think if you have 50+ pounds to lose and/or have weight and lifestyle-related health problems, it's something you may want to look into, with your doctor's permission of course. Beyond that, everyone should research thoroughly and do what's best for them.5 -

It's the delivery if his message. Nothing to do with his appearance... Sad... Give the poor guy a chance...5 -

Says plenty of non-sequitur stuff but more appealing because of his personality, presentation, & looks
He get's an A in marketability, I'll give him that0 -

I have watched DeLauer alot and he is horrible. He constantly spouts stuff based on limited data or cherry picked data. He based his protein video off a few studies, several of which are animal or short studies vs the 10s of meta analyses out there. He also constantly contradicts himself every few months. Overall, he is very good at movie/video production.
And keto, if protein is high enough, is ok for muscle retention, but carb based diets allow for muscle growth in a deficit.8 -

I love the sharing of ideas and being open to 'each his own' and 'do what works for you.' It's a nice policy to apply to a political discussion, as well - and both eating plans and politics discussions can become very lively!

@ultraviolets
Not exclusive to keto, can happen to anyone who loses weight, no matter the plan they use. A calorie deficit is all you need to lose weight, and healthier bio metrics can result from becoming a healthy weight, no matter how you lose the weight.3 -

His opinion is usually pretty well informed.0
