The easiest way to do it may be to get a heart rate monitor...nothing too snazzy, if you check out Amazon or Ebay, you can actually pick them up for pretty cheap0

What is "the couch to 5k"?0

I would log it as jogging- your heart rate stays up pretty well during the walking intervals (or at least mine does). I would say probably 5.0 mph?0

Choose an exercise from the exercise database that closely resembles what u r doin, put in your minues, but dont add it just yet. Then, create your own exercise and use the calories from the closely resembled exercise.0

Couch to 5k is part running and part walking. If you follow the program, then afterwards figure out what you ran and what you walked and log that with the speed.
Example: week 1/day 1Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
If you did it for 20 minutes you'd have 5 minute walk to start, then 2 1/2 minutes per cycle (60 jog/90 walk) for a total of 6 cycles or 6 minutes jogging, 9 minutes walking. Total = 6 minutes jog (at whatever pace) 15 minutes walk (at whatever pace)0 -

Wow, it is great that you and your husband are doing that. It really helped me out when I started running.
Log it. I would put it in under jogging and move to running but it all counts. Are you planning to do a 5K? My best to you...0 -
It's really a lot more complicated than just getting a heart rate monitor. Depending on what model you get, the algorithms assume certain things and aren't nearly as accurate as people wish they were.
Ultimately, a calorie is a measure of energy burned to complete a task, figure out how far you go total. Whither you walk and take 20 minutes to do a mile or jog and take 10 minutes you still covered the same ground. It will vary some, but over all given the sprint/walk cycle in c25k that may be the best way to estimate.0 -
