Did they leave it for you, or did you just eat someone else's chocolate?11

Yh just borrowed it I’ll get her another one😂8

Maybe in the future recognize that it's not yours and unless she gives you the okay to eat it leave it where it is? I'd be pissed if someone did that to me, and I don't do that to others.
ETA: you absolutely could help yourself. You made a choice, it didn't accidentally fall in your mouth.49 -

Different families have different views on things like that. My wife's family is actually quite adamant that no one is allowed to reserve food for themselves. If it is not on your plate about to go in your mouth it is fair game.17 -
For whoever took this seriously she was ok with it I don’t really think it’s a big deal plus I had got her another one straight away it was just a laugh that I ran so long then ate that lol44

You have got nothing better to do then have a rant and put negative comments on posts you would be pissed if someone ate your chocolate bar you need to chill out and live a little..😂37 -

Thank you for your guidance Chill enough for ya? And yes it does bug me when people eat my food and treats willy-nilly. I treat myself very rarely these days with food, so yeah I'd be a little miffed that something I'd saved was snapped up by someone else. And I hate the "I couldn't help myself" excuse *shrug*36 -
I’m glad your fitness goals are going well for you and hope you do well in the future the post was meant to be humorous wasn’t supposed to cause any offence my family are a close family if we eat each others food we replace what has been eaten sorry if the post caused you any offence20

He didn't eat your food so no need to be miffed about it.26

It didn't cause any offense, I tend to have a knee-jerk reaction to some things. That's on me. I'm glad your family has that good dynamic.15 -
Cadbury creme eggs are the bomb, I'd steal my sister's, too!
She takes my clothes all the time anyway, it's not like we wouldn't be even. =D6 -

dang... The judgments are high with some on this thread. Man... I hear you. I can be good all day and the wheels come off. hang in there man. Take one day at a time, one meal at a time... Not that you are asking for advice, but having guilty pleasures in the house make the fight all that harder. Realize it wasn't yours, but I got kids and no matter how good we try to be, a well meaning neighbor brings over a plate of cookies. I get it and all we can do is try.7

Leave it on the top shelf then it's fair game - if you don't want me to eat it for you then you should have hidden it in the salad crisper!14

I tend to have the same reaction to those sort of statements too.
I'm a big believer in taking responsibility and accountability. You can't change what you don't control so saying (or worse believing) things like "I couldn't help myself" and "X person is sabotaging me" come across to me as little more than someone trying to appease their guilt at doing something they know they shouldn't have or regret.
I mean if someone offers me a piece of cake or even cajoles, coaxes and entice me with cake and I eat it then it's obviously because they're trying to sabotage me and not because I decided to do it. It's not my fault it's theirs, I couldn't help myself.
The problem with this is, as I stated above, you can only change things that you control and take responsibility for, so while ceding blame may yield short term relief it robs you of the power to do something about it.
NB: I read the original post in a far more 'lighthearted' tone rather than 'woe is me'. This is just in response to the perils of giving other people (and places and situations, etc) power over your autonomy and self determination.8 -
You could help yourself, but you replaced it and no one was ticked off, so as long as it fits your daily calorie goal, I hope you enjoyed it. I love those things, but they're forbidden to me since I've had to watch my sugar intake for a medical condition. I have to eat the mini eggs and then work out to burn off the sugar.4

Unlikely you burned 400 cals above NEAT in a 40 minute "jog".9 -
I'm sure your sis wouldn't mind. Do you love her enough to give her your last rolo though? Ha ha! I get the feeling this thread is being taken a bit too seriously. Whats wrong with having the odd treat, even if it was your sisters. Share and share alike hey.1

It's interesting to see how different family dynamics are on an issue like this one.
In our family, if any of us bring home a treat, it belongs to them. And if they haven't offered to share, it's courteous to ask and not just assume you can have some, especially if you doing so means you've polished it off.
There are occasional treats (like a box of donuts) that are purchased with the intent of sharing. But if my daughter or husband brought home a chocolate bar, for example, I would never have some without asking them first. And neither would they.4 -
Lol you’re only preparing your sister, from what her future spouse will do.
😂😂😂 just replace it, with two bars 😉5 -
