What's the best thing you ate today? (Motivational/Reflective)

As a way of trying to get to terms with my eating habits, I started asking myself what the best thing was that I had eaten that day. Doing that has really helped me confront the fact that it wasn't the chocolate bar (but the avocado and tomato with some seasalt) or the chips (but the homemade potato wedges), which is one of my first steps to coming to terms with the fact that the "filler foods" (e.g. chocolate, chips) aren't what I really enjoy eating: I mostly just do it out of habit.
So I am now asking all of you: what's the best thing you ate today?

Today, the best thing I ate was a juicy orange when I came home from my sister's.1

My lunch was a baby spinach salad with 1 serving of shredded cheese, candied pecans, and a blue cheese vinagrette. I had an avocado but it got all brown and bruised so I had to toss it.3

Oatmeal.2

My brunch.. I had a turkey, ham, cheese, and basil sandwich on a wheat sandwich thin with a cucumber salad in bolthouse yogurt ranch dressing with Parmesan and chia seeds on top3
-
Chicken salad sandwich and some tortilla chips. But, that's all I've eaten so far. After supper in a couple hours my answer will be the nachos I made.4

I had a delicious salad for lunch, and got an iced mocha from Starbucks on my way back to the office. In hindsight, the salad was way tastier and satisfying than the mocha! (Salad was romaine, black beans, red pepper, tomato, corn, with *small* amounts of white cheddar cheese, red pepper ranch dressing, and jalapeno chips. YUUUUUM.)3

A homemade beef soup that I made that had a ton of veggies in it. Very flavourful and delish 😁4
-
Half a Reuben sandwich with half a Braums fruit and yogurt swirl(with extra yogurt to cut the sweet) for dessert.2

I cut up a cantaloup from the season's first local produce stand. So juicy and delicious!2

Homemade rice pudding with a sliced banana mixed in.5

Oh I think this is a great idea!! 😁
Today I am so proud of myself for staying totally on plan, which for this month is no dairy, no nuts, no sweeteners and following a relatively ketoish diet and fasting. Tonight I started my 66 hour fast.
Best thing I ate was definitely tuna salad using mayo, horseradish, lots of pickles on lettuce and broccoli.6 -
Salmon with salt-free lemon pepper seasoning and a sauteed onion and bell pepper medley1

My lunch today. Spinach salad with peatos cheese things which are like croutons, with egg, bacon, grape tomatoes, and boathouse yogurt blue cheese dressing.2
-
Gnocchi tossed in basil pesto topped with sauteed mushrooms and red peppers along with olive oil and asiago cheese5

Canned tuna w/ mayo, chipotle peppers, bac'n bits, lettuce and tomato. Grilled between two pieces of bread. Kind of like a tuna melt without the cheese. But that's only because I ran out of cheese.2

Eggs with squash and orange bell peppers.1

My morning coffee2

Today it was the three peaches I ate after returning from my walk.1

Today it actually was the chocolate for me. My sister gifted me a box of chocolate truffles for Easter, and it's so good (and expensive) that I've been reluctant to waste it on mindless binging and made sure to only have one or two when I really want to experience it. Yesterday it was my tuna salad. I usually add navy beans to it but we didn't have any, so I added some of another prepared bean dish (broad beans with tahini and tomatoes) and it was heavenly! Now I have another successful improvised recipe in my arsenal. The day before that, it was the burger at a resort pub (just back from a vacation). One of the best burgers I ever tasted!
I'm not afraid to like all kinds of food, nutritious, less nutritious, high calorie, low calorie, doesn't matter. I just like what I like, and dieting didn't magic delicious fries out of my preferences list. What I did find out, however, is that I ate things I didn't actually like much out of habit, so I had to stop doing that because they're not worth the calories (some of which are nutritious, and some of which are less nutritious).10 -
3/4 cup non-fat vanilla yogurt(aldi’s)
1/4 fresh blueberries
1/4 fresh raspberries
Above equals one of my 3 meals everyday.
It never gets old.1 -
Lunch after running errands was delicious! Fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and a banana with cottage cheese topped with roasted almonds.2
-
BarkThins snacking chocolate - dark chocolate blueberry with quinoa crunch. It is a perfect snack for me - a small amount really curbs the chocolate craving and the crunch is an added (much appreciated) bonus. Perfect!1

Stuffed capsicum with chicken mince and quinoa and a garden salad with a balsamic vingarette. Absoltely delicious for lunch, packed with protein1

Today was a crappy day, with exams and not the best food that I don't even remember eating. So today the best thing I consumed was my evening cup of tea (that I'm still enjoying). I will probably have a piece of hard cheese with it too, before I get back to my studies.0

Strawberries from my sister's garden.3

Coworker didn't want her lunch so she gave it to me... I open it up and there's a nice big chunk of venison in there! Yummy!2

I crumbled a Trader Joe's Thai sweet chili veggie burger on top of a serving of TJ's vegetable fried rice. Then I bulked the whole thing up with edamame, mushrooms and red bell pepper and a little soy sauce. So satisfying and nourishing!2

Today the best thing was the last of my peaches (will probably buy new tomorrow!), a perfectly ripe pear and an avocado on the right side of over ripe! It was my afternoon/before dinner snack as I settled down for another round of exam prep!0

Everything I ate all day was awesome. But my fav was probably the crispy oven fried chicken I made for dinner tonite.2
-
Cheese burger from McDonald's3
