Who drinks a protein shake pre and post? I heard it was OK as long as you split. Or do 20/40

What's everyones routine? Ill be starting an alkaline diet soon and I saw Alkamind-

I do a 10g protein shake for breakfast though..

It doesn't matter. Macro timing isn't relevant for the vast majority of us, and only becomes important when one is on the level of a competitive athlete. Just make sure you get enough protein in your day.

Oh and BTW, I just read that link to the alkaline diet that @apullum posted above.

The only thing I can say is that for some people nightshades cause bloating (me. but i still eat eggplants anyway because yum and micronutrients, I just know that if I eat it I will bloat).

And that protein thing about keeping it low and keep away from beans and *kitten*? That's also IMO, *kitten*. YOu don't need to go overboard on protein, but you should eat a minimum based on your stats to maintain muscle and for overall health.

You gain fat if you are consistently in a calorie surplus. Your macros and the timing of them have nothing to do with fat gain.

Yeah, nightshades can definitely cause issues due to individual sensitivity rather than the need for an “alkaline diet.” The rationale behind the alkaline diet is the wooiest thing I’ve heard in a long time. I recently listened to this podcast in which a doctor debunks the myths behind claims that you can or should change your body’s pH balance: https://www.maximumfun.org/sawbones/sawbones-alkaline-water

I don't think protein drinks at all because they are nasty to me. I've tried many brands and many different flavors. So that is one option! Probably not a popular one.

Protein from whole food sources is probably the best option. But it can be hard for some, including me, to hit their daily goal without supplementation. For me, it's 1 protein shake per day most days. I use a chocolate one and blend it with a banana. Tastes great!
