Everyone seems to be low carb

Couldn't imagine eating a low carb diet. I lost 6 stone 3 of it on a high carb low fat diet and the rest on a more balanced diet.5

I could never low carb. I sort of naturally go low fat but not by design and I don't restrict it deliberately. I lost 40lbs 2 years ago and ate more carbs than anything, I would bet.. I'm maintaining doing the same5

31 pounds since 4/1, focusing calorie deficit but eating SOME carbs. Fit and Active wraps, 100 cal multi grain English Muffins, plain baked potato, quinoa and brown rice cycle through my meals as well as almonds, pistachios and peanuts. I'm eating far less carbs that app says I should and eating more protein than app says I should. I cycle 15-40 miles 3 times a week and strength training at gym 3 times a week. My choices seem to work for me3

I'm losing weight at a steady pace and I eat a good amount of carbs every day. For me, a whole grain item can keep me more full sometimes than other things. I also try to hit protein and fat numbers. Well rounded diet for the win 😏
I keep laughing at the woo person too. They hit it on many posts where people talk about eating carbs and the best I can figure is either they are cranky from limiting/missing carbs or mad they can't push some restrictive diet on us lol. Eat a Snickers. 😝14 -
Currently my normal day is ~ 120g carbs
The other day I had a high-carb day programmed in though and that was at 350g carbs.2 -
Thanks for all the replies! I'm in an calorie def and hoping for good results! i tried the low carb for a week and i just couldn't do it. made me sick lol.7

It's just trendy right now, just like a few years ago everyone seemed to be Paleo. Just do your thing if low carb is not for you. It's not for me, so I'm doing my thing.10

I aim to keep my macros pretty balanced and don’t do low carb. I do keep an eye on my protein and fiber only because I was not getting enough of either for awhile5
-
40 pounds lost. Love carbs and not the least bit interested in restricting them.5

I've lost 38 lbs so far (since Oct 1 2019) just by eating a little less and moving a little more.
Looking back on these past few months, even with reductions of 250-500 calories per day most days, I've been getting 230+ grams of carbs every day. Most are complex carbs from whole foods but I have also gone weeks on end eating a cookie every day.4 -

I watched calories (and protein) while losing weight but had/have a pretty high carb diet.
As a long distance cyclist I'm part of a demographic that tend to be slim, fit and eat a high volume of carbs.
My highest carb (and exceptional) day during my weight loss period was 650g, excellent fuel for exercise.
Guess that is going to attract the woo'er who seems to object to the fact that people can and do lose weight without going low carb. Seems the cult of low carb can't tolerate people who make different dietary choices to them and are successful which is rather sad. You could choose to be happy for others and respect their choices instead.
I remained quite slim and fit for years while cycling long distances and eating a high volume of carbs.5 -
Carbs are awesome. Not only have I not needed to cut them out of my diet to lose weight, but they are in some of the most nutritious foods known to man. Fruits, beans, and whole grains are all sources of carbs and have an wide range of health benefits.
Plus carbs make me feel full and they help give me energy to power my workouts.12 -
Definitely not low carb here. Last night was spicy shrimp over potatoes (tossed in browned onions and tomato paste) with french bread. Avocado on English muffins today. Eat what you want but eat in your calorie budget.8
-
I'm fine with people not wanting to eat carbs but I really dislike fad diets and diets that demonise any particular food group. Even sugar is fine and has its place in the world10
-
I straight up just do calories in, calories out. I even still drink soda when I want to *gasp!* I just make it fit.4

I focus on calorie deficit, but i have noticed that by lowering my carbs (specifically breads and pastas, not fruit or veggie carbs), my joints aren't as inflamed, including my knee. After a week with a focus on meats, veggies/fruits, and fats with only perhaps one bread/pasta per day, my knee inflammation reduced dramatically (conversely when I was eating a lot of breads etc per day, my knee felt worse after a few days). Causation? maybe, maybe not.4

I watch my macros but not low carb. Just make sure I get enough protein, fat, and fiber and then just let the carbs do whatever. Usually 200-250g carbs a day. Never had trouble losing before. Trying to get back in a deficit again because I regained a ton of weight, but I don't think that had anything to do with carbs.2

Happy Monday, I tried keto, but it was so hard with my husband, because of fixing him a potato or pasta or what ever to go with what I was eating for dinner. I went back old school and talked to my dr at a recent visit and she recommended "strongly" to just keep my calories between 1400-1500 and not try every diet listed in a magazine. (She knows me too well). It has been just a couple weeks and I have only lost a couple pounds but it has helped me focus on eating more balanced during the day and now my challenge is to get up from the desk more and move more during the day at work. I have started weight lifting slowly and tomorrow I start water aerobics which will be 3 times a week.6

A giant bagel kept me full for the entire morning a few weeks ago! I still think of that bagel from time to time... I miss you, giant bagel!
Anyway, point is, I'm losing weight AND eating giant bagels from time to time (they're pretty caloric, so I can't do it that often). I love carbs, a lot. They tend to keep me fuller for longer. Other people do better with fewer carbs and higher protein. That just has to do with satiety, though. A calorie deficit is how I've lost the weight so far. That's it. Nothing fancy. No snake juice here (wtf is snake juice anyway?).7 -

Snake oil My understanding is that when Chinese workers came to the US in the 1800's they traditionally used actual snake oil as a remedy, and when word got around, scam artists started selling bogus "snake oil" and attributing all kinds of powers to it. The average consumer didn't actually know anything about the original product other than hearsay, so they were easily sold on it. It was like the first documented woo fad, at least that's how the story goes.8 -
I eat 150g-250g of carbs a day, mostly from fruit, but there is some chocolate and cookies in there too3
-
i heart carbs - they probably make up 50-60% of my daily intake (right now its 349-449g carbs a day)2

Someone is seriously on the forums promoting "snake juice." I just googled it and it's some kind of keto powdered drink. Worst. Name. Ever.5 -
If I went low-carb, I would really, really struggle to eat at a deficit, because I'd be eating every protein and fat source in the entire kitchen and not feel sated. Common wisdom has it that fats and proteins are best for satiety, but YMMV, and it's not so in my case. Gimme my oatmeal in the morning and I'm fine for *hours*. Throw some noodles into my vegetable stir-fry and I won't feel like snacking before bed.5

I am eating low carbs/sugar so i can lower my A1C2

For real? Alrighty then. I'd bet snake juice is snake oil though5 -
Neither I do a macro diet.1

I'm glad this was posted. Sometimes it's hard to avoid all the "you must do low carb for this/that reason" news. I have to keep reminding myself to ignore the carbs completely and just focus on calories (and protein).4
