Are you a douche bag if you wear Gym Shark?

Well if there was ever a douche bag to step foot in my gym, this is what usually comes to mind:

working out indoors shirtless with shades & being from Jersey shore...how is that not douche?

Like if you get cut off a few times by people driving Land Rovers and you say “people who drive Land Rovers are jerks”. I mean, most prolly are, but we still shouldn’t be so judgy.

I’ll be honest here, I don’t have any bad association with the brand. Perhaps I’m becoming more judgmental towards “trends” as I get older.

I've never even heard of gym shark! I don't care what people wear to the gym, to each their own. I will read shirts if there's a saying or logo on it, just habit, but won't assign any meaning to it.

I wear Gym Shark and I don't feel self conscious cuz I'm too busy ogling myself in the mirror, I can't help it if I make it look good

I've never heard of Gym Shark, I hopped on the link that was above, I didn't find anything very gaudy or douche worthy. There were a few items that had large logos, but even them, they didn't look outrageous.
I'd have no problem with someone wearing them at the gym.

I have mixed feelings. There’s chicks wearing gym shark all the time at the gym I go to. I think I judge the full face of makeup and freshly straightened hair more, but I understand some may have just gotten out of work. However, yeah, I judge when they come in at 5am like that, and there’s a few ladies who do that at the gym I attend 😭

Gym shark seems to have a good fit from what I can see of people wearing them, and if it’s getting more people in the gym who might be self conscious, then I can get behind that absolutely. My sister never worked out with me because she was self conscious about her appearance. If it makes people feel good so they actually workout, then good on them!

50/50 mixed feelings and judgement for sure 🤔

Some of the posts on this thread highlight why some people are scared to go to the gym. They are worried some weird strangers are going to be paying attention to what they are doing rather than just focusing on their own self. Yall are giving their worries some credence. Don't be those guys/gals.

LOL, i'm just enjoying the thread OP, has given me some morning LOLs.

Now, I do not own Gym Shark, and I tend to have a bit of the same reaction as you as in "must be a douche". But this is based on the couple of people I follow/used to follow on IG who aren't necessarily douches, but are those super fit chicks with the booties who are always posing and saying vapid *kitten* and basically just being an advertisement for the brand.

I suppose it's not really a 'douche' thing but more of a "i can't take that person seriously" type of feeling perhaps. Maybe this is just because I recently got triggered by one of them and unfollowed because she posted one of those comparison photos of her being leaner than 99% of the population next to her being leaner than 99.9% of the population, with one of those "oh, it's OK to not be lean all the time love your body all the time oh yeah!" type captions. Things like that *kitten* me up the wall.

I think there is ONE girl at my gym who wears Gym Shark. She is also the one who uses 2kg dumbbells and the elliptical and is naturally (I think?) slim. That sounds very judgmental. Yes, I am being judgy.

But all of that being said, I don't really care what people wear and don't normally take notice of it. I will take notice of other stuff - ie the said Gym Shark girl at the gym, I noticed her first because she was hogging a bench down in the weights area with her 2kg DBs doing what IMHO was a waste of time and space workout and I needed a bench at that time. So I got annoyed and then I noticed the Gym Shark outfit.

Then I told myself to stop being a douche and be happy that people are being fit at the gym regardless of what I perceive as being their 'useless' exercises.

I tend to wear things that cover the parts that I want covered. I'll wear clothes with huge logos if it's comfortable. It's not about making a statement, it's just what feels good when exercising. If that is something from Gym Shark or Goodwill, comfort is the only thing that matters. If someone is going to judge people for what they wear to a gym, are they there for a workout or a fashion show?

I don't care what anyone else wears at the gym, except I prefer everyone cover up their bits. If you have the $$ and want to buy expensive gear, more power to ya! If you got a ratty old tshirt, that's ok too. To each their own.
