I started counting calories two months ago. I am well ahead of schedule. It's definitely doing what I ask of it, as long as I hold up my end.

I'm 125 pounds down thanks to this MFP! It's been a while since I've been there though. You all feel free to add me.

Yes! It’s been extremely helpful! Since I log my water, it helps by reminding me to drink more water. Because I am committed to tracking everything I put in my mouth, it keeps me honest to myself. Also, that helps me make conscious food decisions.

Yes, because of the database it has on food. The exercise tracker isn't totally needed for me since I do minimal cardio. It certainly keeps my calories and macros consistent.

I've learned a ton, and using what I've learned I dropped 35 pounds already.

Plus the community is so supportive and helpful and kind.

I used the app for two days and loathed it...but I've successfully maintained 120+ weight loss over six years now by using the full website daily.

I’m still working on my final goal, but this is the most that I’ve ever lost. It’s like any other tool though, you have to use it.

I love this app. I've only been here 5 weeks and have a long journey ahead of me. That said, I'm very happy with my progress so far and have met some really great people.

Yes- I'm about halfway to my goal and it's really helped me to stay on track. It helps much more if you add friends and use the forums. I really don't have any support from anywhere else - home, friends, etc.

I lost 98 lbs in a year while using this app exclusively to track my food intake. I love MFP!

I prefer the food diary on the app, pretty indifferent to the other features between the two.

So far so good. The food diary definitely keeps you mindful of what you're eating. So far I've kept my food journal private but my exercise log public. Having the likes and encouragements when I post a workout makes me look forward to the next one. Good job to everyone who has posted their success stories and progress, and good luck to everyone working toward their goals!

Yes, it's been helpful to me, but asking your question here is likely to result in biased answers -- people who didn't find it helpful presumably would be less likely to keep hanging around on the forums.

I lost 100 pounds over 2.5 years, and have maintained in my goal weight range for two years. MFP works if you use it as intended. If you:
    • enter a reasonable rate of loss for your stats
    • log all your food and exercise accurately (i.e., using a food scale to weigh all your food, making sure your exercise calorie burns aren't exaggerated)
    • consistently stay within your calorie goal
    • be patient while the process works (including understanding normal weight fluctuations)
    then you will lose weight.

Most of the problems people have come from not doing those things. They attempt to lose weight more quickly than is reasonable for their stats, don't weigh their food (which usually results in underestimating how many calories they're taking in), use inflated exercise calorie estimates, regularly eat more than their calorie goal, or get impatient.

Taken together, that's pretty close to 100% of the issues people need help with on these forums.

Yes, very much so. Started 470 days ago - MFP did all the necessary calculations for me and there are so many supportive members out there! Lost so far 39 kg - 85 pounds and much more to go.

I've been on and off the app for years. Whenever I realize Ive put on a little weight, I jump back on to get a detailed and honest view of how much I'm eating.

It helps get me quickly back on track. I can usually maintain without it, but I'm in a cycle of weight loss, maintain for years, depression hits (usually due to illness or injury), gain a few, realize I've been depressed and over-eating, get back on mfp, lose weight, repeat!

I wish I knew how to tell I'm depressed, but I honestly don't until I pack on a few pounds and have to self analyze why.
