I know people with think twice before messing with someone big but in a worst case scenario will it help? If someone has experience that would be great to know.

Sure it helps to look intimidating...can't say I've ever gotten into physical altercations with anyone nor have I agonized anyone. Generally best to use your wit/words to avoid fights (usually over very stupid/trivial/silly matters)...most of us are suppose to be civilized human beings. Although, I don't think angry intoxicated people tend to respond very well to logic or rationale2

Being strong and fit is going to help in any physical confrontation.1

Agreed but people say it’s better to learn fighting techniques rather then being big because it slows down the movement.1

Yeah, just watch some MMA fights...very insightful & seemingly deceptive. Many times the "out of shape" looking fighter can absolutely dominate the more athletic fighter with sheer skill/technique & endurance1
