Basically how it says above. Would it be viable to use slim fast with my fitness Pal?

Slim Fast Diet itself isn't viable.
However, if you want to use a few Slim Fast products to help you meet your calorie goals once in awhile, there isn't any problem with that.7 -
I have never used slim fast. Just watching adverts and was wondering if it was possible ?0

As long as you log it you can eat anything.5

I track Slimfast products all the time with mfp.
Usually grab one of the meal replacement bars when I'm running late for brekki.2 -

Have you tasted it? Have you looked at the calories and figured out what you could have instead for the same calories? Try to buy one, not a 6-pack. I’ve never tried the bars.0

Slim Fast does not do anything special for weight loss. Weight loss is 100% about consistently being in a calorie deficit, and it does not matter what specific foods you eat. Some people enjoy meeting their calorie goals with Slim Fast; most people (including me) do not enjoy the taste of it and would not want to eat it.
Since Slim Fast is just a food, it doesn't make sense to ask whether it "works" with MFP. You would log it just like you log any other food.
Eat what you want within your calorie goal. If you want Slim Fast, then drink it, but be aware that it doesn't have any special weight loss properties. There's no reason to drink it unless you like the taste.8 -
I’m with everyone else. But me personally I happen to like the way the slimfast shakes taste and the nutritional values are good on them so I normally drink one a day for work over lunch along with some protein bar. I only drink the high protein versions though. It works for me and my body to do lunch like that. It gives me just enough fuel to get through the day. Slimfast products in itself is just another calorie food item. But one I happen to really like the taste of.6
-
I love the taste too, much better than any protein powder I've tried throughout the years and I love the way it blends so smoothly,if you want to use slim fast use it but log it same as any other food/drink2
-
Sure, you can use SlimFast or any other consumable product with MFP. In fact, I think it's better to use it with MFP rather than on your own so you can make sure you don't undereat and can see how it affects all your numbers.4
-
It's OK...but I would perhaps look around for cheaper alternatives (depending on how you are wanting to utilize the product in your lifestyle change)...I mean if it's meal replacements, then there are other powders available for example MyProtein do a "Meal Replacement" powder that comes in 500g, 1Kg or 2.5Kg packs...
https://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/protein-meal-replacement-blend/11324199.html
But then Tesco do their own range also:
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/search?query=tesco slim&brand=Tesco,Tesco Slim Cook&viewAll=brand
I cannot speak for either...but using them alongside MFP's calculators and exercise may garner results?!
I have used Slim Fast in the past as a Meal Replacement (used to have a shake for breakfast...or dinner) depending on the situation...but like people have said...they're not a 'magic slimming device'...they are more an aid to controlling your calorie intake and as such the other stuff is workable too...

My mom is obsessed with slimfast crap, if you look at what's really in it, it's chocolate milk with extra sugar, some oil mixed in, and processed added fiber :P It's crazy1 -
I’m using slim fast with flaxseed powder 1tbsp and a banana plus almond milk as breakfast with one hard boiled egg😘
On my days off I’ll skip the slim fast and make a nice steak and potatoes or some other more hefty meal as I generally have a later breakfast which is practically lunch time anyways.
Lunch is a salad of choice (meal preps twice a week for just this meal planning portion of my plan)
Dinner is a fruit salad and another egg.1 -
Slimfast itself contains the full array of vits and mins. However. If you stick to 3 a day you’ll absolutely feel like you’re starving. It’s not filling. If you are going to use it as is. At least have some egg whites. Your stomach works less hard when it’s a liquid. So you’ll feel hungry sooner than if it had some solids to work on digesting.3

Just to clarify...Slimfast isn't just shakes.
A lot of misinformed people on here.
They do meal replacement bars, cheddar bites, porridge, pretzels, mini snack bars..2 -

This was true for me, slimfast alone only has 110 calories so I do a breakfast of 1 egg(70) cals, light bread(45) cals, some ham(70)cals then add a slimfast with some almond milk blended with coffee and ice makes a nice breakfast ❤️1 -

Oh I should try adding my chocolate Slimfast to my coffee instead of the occasional scoop of hot choclate mix🤩great idea1 -
I see nothing at all out of the ordinary with Slimfast products. They are just food and some people really like them. The calorie counts are not heinous and they are all convenient.
Serve them up and log them in!2 -

I wouldn't say misinformed as such...but the "popular" (and most cost effective?!) method of taking Slim Fast is via the shakes...I think restricting yourself to the small variety of those other food items (they do noodles and soups I think as well?!) is not necessarily helpful because eating ready prepared meal portions doesn't educate you to prepare a 600/800 calorie meal for dinner from scratch...and after a couple of weeks you'd get bored of eating the same small number of things...so it is simpler to substitute a shake for breakfast and/or lunch whilst eating ordinary food in a controlled fashion (preparing 600/800 calorie dinners from scratch).
Plus like the shakes...a lot of the "snacks" are basically sugar...I mean all but the 'Heavenly Chocolate Delight' bar (which contains only 6 grams) contain 12 grams of sugar...which is a lot for a tiny 95 calorie bar...and I don't know about anyone else...but I'd rather have a higher protein hit than the carbs...2 -

Okay, but all of those things are still just food and don’t have any special weight loss properties. Everything that’s been said about eating the food you want within your calorie goal still applies. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about a shake or a pretzel. Weight loss is 100% about consistently eating fewer calories than your body burns.4 -

You could go the other way though and say that by eating less uncontrolled meals you have less chance of calorie creeping and perhaps you have more energy to invest in the one meal. Also, some people seem pretty happy eating the same thing all the time. A small number of people do lose weight all the way to goal with the cabbage soup diet and a few of them figure out how to maintain it.
The chances of success with slimfast are not great but then they are not great with any method. All methods have downsides too.
I think we have to be careful disparaging a method that is used to provide a healthy number of calories for a person. It makes no difference to me that I tried and failed to use SF myself a few times that just means it was not for me. The one good thing is that I learned something about myself. I just wish I had learned it completely in the first attempt and not wasted time with 2 more tries at it.
The one good thing about SF is that it doesn't seem to have a lot of the magiks associated with it that others do. I doubt most people doing it are devoted to it and would probably move on to something else if it is not sustainable for them.3 -

You have a point there @NovusDies its true that some people can get on well eating the same thing all the time...I live somewhere in the gray area...because I want to be more controlled...but I have to vary my meals otherwise it becomes just another daily routine...that is to say it becomes a robotic reaction...and though I'd like to have a better control of my eating habits...as some days I subscribe to the old "Sea Food" diet (in that I see food...and I eat it!)...and that sabotages my weight loss...I need to find something that is workable...because I have yo-yo'd back to starting weight again...and I need to lose the belly I have reacquired!1
