How long does it take to get results. I am exercising 5 days per week.

You lose weight by diet. Exercise is for health and fitness. It allows you to burn a few more calories, and thus to eat a bit more and still lose weight, but in itself won't lead to a 40 lb. loss. Weight loss happens in the kitchen.
As to fitness, you should start seeing results within a month. The exercises will feel easier and you'll have more energy afterwards.1 -

If you have 40 lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight, you should set yourself up to lose 1 lb per week. You may be able to expect 1.5 lbs per week in the beginning. Regardless of what exercise you are doing, your eating will give you more bang for your buck. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight.

It takes as long as it takes. It's different for all of us. Slow and steady really does win the race with weight loss if you're looking for sustainability.

Everyone is different. I started out pretty heavy and have been losing at about 1-1.5 lbs week (faster at the beginning, slower now as I have less to lose) and it's taken me roughly 7.5 months to lose 40 lbs. YMMV.1
