    Hello!

I am in a similar situation. Due to cancer, I became wheelchair-bound two years ago. I have also gained weight from being so sedentary.

I joined this site today, so I am just beginning, too! I would love to compare notes with you and other wheelchair-bound participants.

    Best wishes!

I have a connective tissue disease (Ehler's-Danlos Syndrome) and due to joint pain, I am, for then most part, wheelchair bound. The more I weigh, the more the pain, the less I move, the more I gain, and so forth. This was my first day tracking just to see where I am at to look and see what I can change. I could have eaten 600 more calories but don't feel a need to so time to brush my teeth and get to bed. I hope you are all still online and trying to beat this battle.

    Welcome to MFP, you three!

The good news is weight loss is a matter of consuming less calories per day than your body can burn off - even when sedentary by circumstance.

I highly recommend buying a food scale and weighing and tracking your regular food items and meals for at least a week. Not only will this give you the opportunity to learn how to properly enter what you're currently eating, but will give you a pretty good idea of how you can begin to make gradual and sustainable changes.

Also, this thread contains links to the most helpful information for people just starting out. Give them a read as they contain lots of valuable information.
