I need help...

3 days into my binge and im so exhausted and sick. I need help but even my GP says she doesn't know what to do for me since there aren't any specialists who take Medicaid for my eating disorder here. Last night I became so full that I stood up and threw up ramen noodles into my mouth because I shifted the food. I did it again in the car on the way to pick my kids up from daycare. I thought because I had an appointment with my GP today, it would be better. I didn't eat until after 11am today when I met with her... but I got more bad news and was disappointed... so here I am, currently at 5,000 calories and still climbing until I pass out tonight. My stomach is so full I feel like it's going to explode and I still can't stop. I don't know what to do. Please help

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I have zero experience with eating disorders. All I can really do is suggest that if you can't see a specialist, what about a psychologist or psychiatrist? 💙

Have you asked to be prescribed any meds? Here's a thread with some ideas: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10671142/contrave-anyone/p1

Try to look past the couple of argumentative posts in that thread (it happens  )

In the meantime, Yes, you can stop. Leave the house if you have to. Take a walk, call a friend. Find an OA or an AA meeting (they have the same problem only it's alcohol - and the meeting will calm you.)

Distract, stay busy. Clean out a closet. Whatever bad news you got, it won't be fixed by food. Find a comedy to watch. Take a shower, go to bed.
  • I was prescribed vyvanse for binge eating disorder last week. I'm hoping to see results soon.
  • I have a psychiatrist and a therapist for other mental disorders, but as far as the eating disorder my GP says I need to have a specialist to help me with that and when I came in to see her today, she just informed me that there wasn't anything they could help me with because there isn't anyone who takes Medicaid. She even went on to tell me that I know what I'm doing is bad for me... so that should be enough to keep me from doing it....which, it's not. Lol

Oh my that is awful. I do sympathise and have done somewhat similar things with food in the past. I can remember eating so much lasagne that I couldn't move and went for a lie down, not long into my nap I the food shifted and I had to bolt to the toilet and throw it up. So I understand a bit where you are coming from.

Is there a particular trigger for you? (Mine was an unhappy marriage)

Is there an Overeaters Anonymous near you?

You really need professional help. I don't understand the American health system as I am from the UK but surely this falls under mental health in some way.

I am sure there are a lot of ex-binge eaters on here that might be able to give you some tips but in the end only you can physically stop putting the extra food into your mouth.

Please please stop I hate the thought of you doing this to yourself. You have young children that depend on you, that look up to you and that love you. You need to be around for them and to show them the right way to treat their bodies. The best way to to do this is to lead by example. You wouldn't want them to use food like this would you. Imagine your little one eating so much they throw up in their mouth. Isn't that an awful thought.

I am not saying this to hurt you but wouldn't you be horrified if you found your child eating in this way?

You deserve to treat yourself with more kindness your body needs to be fuelled not filled to bursting.

I hope you can find a way out of this for the sake of your health and your childrens well being they need you.

Your psychiatrist and therapist should be able to help you. It's all part of an anxiety disorder, I'm not sure why your GP would tell you that - that's weird.

There's a really good book, "The Beck Diet Solution" that is Cognitive Therapy based - see if you can find it on Amazon or at the library.

I'm glad you got Vyvanase. That's supposed to be the best one for BED.

I hope you stopped for the night and can get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow is a new day. :flowerforyou:
