Take a read of the Most Helpful posts in the Getting Started and General Diet boards. Lots of very useful information there for sustainable and successful weight loss without all the broscience and snake oil.

I started last year at the heaviest I've ever been, which was 235 pounds, well into the Obese BMI category and about 55 pounds overweight. I've lost almost 40 of those pounds so far and dropped to 196. What you did in the past, or where you are starting from, that's not important. Only focus on making progress and improvements.

Fatter than I’ve ever been. Retired one year ago, moved to Florida and have eaten myself into a ten pound weight gain. Can’t seem to control carb cravings. Desperate now. This cannot continue :o

Forgot to say that the ten pound gain was on top of the twenty extra that I was already carrying. Ugh. I HATE how I look

I'm in the same boat. I used to be in shape and worked out, but due to some changes in my life I couldn't/didn't want to keep it up anymore. :( I'm so uncomfortable and I feel like crap so here I am. Glad to see there is a community here where we're all going through it together.
