    Question posters.

What do you do when you have not hit the minimum 1,200 calories and are just not hungry? I am not talking every day, but am finding once a week or so I really am not hungry and have maybe 200-300 calories left.

I have been just eating something healthy to get to the minimum, but then I say to myself, why eat when I am not hungry. :)

I am not anorexic or bulimic (love food too much and cannot stomach emptying stomach just to eat more). Just want to see if anyone has this issue and if you are just eating something to get the minimum or go with what the body seems to need.

I’m trying to only eat when I’m genuinely hungry as opposed to just craving something, bored, etc. I have had the odd day where I wasn’t very hungry and didn’t meet the minimum 1200. I don’t force myself to eat more just to meet it. However I tend to eat a calorie range through the week, some days low, some high, which usually averages out to around 1500 calories per day.

    Hello everyone

Up a little earlier today and will get out and get my minimum 30 minutes in this morning. Today is going to be a challenge as I am attending 3 2-hour conference calls. TG I can work remote and will have to march in place during some of the calls. I am fidgety and 2 hours of constant sitting will drive me crazy. On another note here - I was to fly to NH to attend these meetings and was happy my VP was OK with me dialing in. If I had to sit through these meetings......

09/15 - 186.0 - Two weeks to go - here's to getting those two pounds off for good!!
09/16 - 185.0 - Yeah! Hit my goal when I first started MFP (10 pounds by the end of September).
    09/17 - 184.6
    09/19 - 184.2

I am really happy to see the body is still positively reacting to the life changes being made. I am finding I am not as tired and do not feel like a slug. I have had a few days where I had to push myself to get moving, but found tricking myself is working (like stepping in place while I fold the laundry and taking one type of item upstairs and putting it away at a time).

I hope everyone has a wonderful day. B)

I think that it averages out over the week. I agree, I don't want to eat just for the sake of topping up calories.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes, it probably does average over the week. And then I think how many times have I estimated that tablespoon/cup, etc.. Hope you have a great day!

    Good day everyone.

Can I tell everyone how much I hate dark chocolate hummus?! :) Bought some as a healthy alternative for a chocolate craving. It sat in the fridge for 5 days. Tasted some the night before (two servings - 4 tablespoons) and was like OMG this is delicious (I bought Boar's Head brand - it was on sale). Last night I demolished it - yes, that's right! So I was worried about one day of low calories and I smashed through all of them yesterday and quite a few more. LOL! I am not beating myself over it. The stuff is really good and I will buy again. I will just have to use more self-control!

Hi Everyone! I’m in for the challenge:

    Sep SW: 154
    September goal weight: 149
    Ultimate goal weight: 140

    Sep 1: 154
    Sep 9: 155
    Sep 16:
    Sep 23:
    Sep 30:

Good Luck Everyone! Let’s do it!

    Sep 9: 155 :(

Not sure why I gained, I haven’t logged as diligently as I usually do. So, will really step up in that area this week.

I honestly love working out, so I’m guessing it’s the food.

I’d be appreciative of any tips! Thank you!

    Sep 18: 155 :( AGAIN!

I usually lose weight when I put my mind to it, not sure why the scale isn’t moving? Eating less and I’ve added an extra day of intense working out to my normal 3-4 days per week. Not sure what else to do. Hoping next week will be better!

At least I didn’t GAIN ;) *knock on wood*

Good Luck Everyone!!! Hope your journey is going well!

I will be here again, but I think I am taking a diet break for the next couple of weeks. I didn't really get anywhere in August because to be honest I lost my motivation. I have been on this journey for over a year now and have lost just over 35 pounds, but I am tired. Last month was a really rough month with some family issues that needed to be taken care of and now my birthday is coming up in a couple of days. So I am eating at maintenance until the 15th and will get back to my losing routine and finally get rid of these last couple of pounds. My ultimate goal is 135-138. I have been hovering between 142-145 the last month, so I am super close, but exhausted at the same time.

    Original starting weight - 178
September starting weight - 8/30 weigh in 143.6
    September goal - 141
    Ultimate goal - 135-138

1st - 143.6 on 8/30 before I left for FIL funeral in Texas

5th- 145.1 still working on restaurant and water weight from 4 days in Texas

12th - 145.6 I am officially 40 year old! Where has the time gone, lol. I have been able to maintain and live normally for about 5 weeks now. Even with all the stress of my FIL passing and all the craziness of my kids getting back into their new school years I have been able to do it. I have 2 in college (different schools), a senior in high-school, an 8th grader, and a 5th grader, lol, so when I say it's been crazy I mean it. I am really looking forward to getting under 140 and reaching my goal, so the diet break is over. Back at it today! Let's see what I can do the last half of the month.

19th - 143.7 I have been back on my plan for about a week. Stalled for a couple of days with TOM, but dropped back down to my pre-break weight today. Hopefully I can lose at least a pound by next week and start making some progress.

    26th -
    30th -

    Hello everyone.
TGIF! I have been looking forward to this day all week long. Work has been crazy. Too many long meetings which does not leave much time for actual work. I am remote today so I will be able to catch up and get all of those pesky items off of the to-do list.

So my scale seems to be on the fritz. It's very old (at least 15 years - probably more like 20) and made mostly out of plastic. Most days I have to weigh myself 3-4 times before a realistic weight appears. Yesterday I actually stopped at the local grocery store to re-weigh. And, then found my scale was off by quite a bit. So my 30-day reward is going out and purchasing a new scale!

09/15 - 186.0 - Two weeks to go - here's to getting those two pounds off for good!!
09/16 - 185.0 - Yeah! Hit my goal when I first started MFP (10 pounds by the end of September).
    09/17 - 184.6
    09/19 - 184.2
09/20 - 183.4 - I am so looking forward to getting back in to the 170 range again in October. It has been 2 yrs!
    09/20 - 184.6 - Corrected weight
    09/21 - 184.0 - Yeah! Hit September's goal.

Since I am in the market for a new scale - what is your favorite? My current one is a HealthOMeter. Yes, it has given me a lot of good years - just getting tired of not getting an accurate weight - poor thing is asking for retirement. LOL!

I hope everyone has a great day and is able to meet or exceed their goals for the day.

I bought a WW digital (Weight Watchers) from Walmart and have been very happy with it. I got a red one, they had many colours. I bought a different digital one first from there and got 4 different weights within a couple of minutes, so returned it. I can't remember the name of it.

    Greetings from windy Florida.

I love mornings. The prospect of a new beginning is simply wonderful to me. I love listening to the birds starting to wake up and watching the sun opening up a new day. We can all make this day as positive and/or negative as we want it to be. I am developing new methods/attitudes of how I handle challenging situations. Some new mantras, "this has been put before me as a learning experience", "how I react is a direct reflection of me", "am I really going to remember this day a year/5 years from now", "what kind of day is that person having to behave like that and what can I do to change their day", etc.. Does anyone else have mantras or things they say to themselves when you hit a bump in the road?

Wow, you have lost almost 12 pounds in a month! Good going.
Bumps in the road, well good for you in how you have chosen to handle them. They are inevitable and have so many degrees and variations.

When I encounter a bump in the road it is more like: "What the (bleep)?" or "You have to be (bleeping) kidding me!" So that is what I say to myself lol.

How we deal with things though is so individual, sociological, cultural, and often gender-based. Big subject!

Thank you for the friend request and the weight loss cheer.

Funny, (bleep) is my go to too and hate to say it - one of my favorite words. Like I cannot wait to replace that (bleeping) scale!

Yes, how we deal with situations is very individual and stems from many experiences and places. I am trying to be a more gentler person to those around me and to myself. And, while saying the same things in my head or to myself presenting it as a different output.

Hope the rest of your day is a good one.

Fun discussion. I think that we might be mostly conditioned about how to react to circumstances, kind of like Pavlov's dogs ; - )
Repetition leads to habit, so good on you for practicing gentleness : - )

    Hello Team 5+ Pounds.

We are in the home stretch of the month of September. The next two weeks will be rather stressful at work. I am a stress eater so my goal for the next two weeks is to be sure I plan my meals and have lots of healthy sense-satisfying snacks around. It sure makes for a heavy lunch bag (I carry the day's water too), but I am looking at that as a form of exercise. :)

I had to remind myself of the caloric measurements of a pound.......some are specific to me because we all have different lifestyles and men typically burn more calories per day than women.

    3,500 calories = one pound
    2,000 calories/day = maintenance
1,500 calories/day = weight loss of 1 pound per week
1,200 calories/day = weight loss of 1.5 pounds per week

As the end of September approaches I am starting to plan my October goals. I am going to shoot for 1.5 pounds a week which will put be at around 175 or so by the end of October. I am also thinking about ways to step up the exercise plan (I almost fit in to my "fat" yoga clothes) so I will be in search of yoga classes that do not cost an arm and a leg. :)

I hope everyone has a positive day.

Geez, at 1200 consumed, and burning an additional 500 through exercise per day I lose on average on 1 - 1 1/2 pounds per month, not per week. Getting older is great in so many ways, but weight loss (for me) has become extremely difficult.
This month I gained 1.1 pounds and won't have access to a scale for 2 weeks. I will be ice skating frequently while away so will burn lots of calories and be tighter, but I also will have to negotiate food while not having a kitchen.
I was 158.6 on Sept 01, 158.0 on Sept 20 (my birthday, turned 59), 159.7 today, my last weigh in for the month.
I am a daily weigh-er, so I might be really missing my scale to keep me accountable : - P
I will still be logging every day, just not weighing myself.

Maybe your break will be the shake up your body needs. Sometimes the change of scenery and access to different foods helps. Enjoy your time away!

Happy belated Birthday! I hope you had a pleasant day.

I turned 55 this year and am actually surprised by how quickly my body is shedding the weight. Please remember I went from a total couch potato eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted to recording everything I eat and taking baby steps in the exercise area (I was walking during commercial breaks the first week or so and am now walking outside). I am sure this will slow down so I am trying to make the big goals these first few months. I also took all of my measurements for the times when the scale does slow. Also trying to mentally convince my body it can do it! LOL........

    Have a wonderful time.

    Hello everyone.
It appears my weight loss has slowed. Two days at the same weight. Some would take this as a set back. I am looking at it as a positive. I may not have lost weight, but I haven't gained any either. So this realization is affirming my October goals - I must step up the exercise plan.

I know it's only Tuesday but I am really looking forward to this weekend. I am purchasing a new scale (my 30-day goal present) since my old one has seen better days. I still have to step on the scale 3-4 times before I officiate my weight in the morning (I take the highest one). So once it's all set up I may have a big surprise - 5 pounds heavier or 5 pounds lighter (LOL). I will keep everyone posted.

I hope everyone is near or at goal as we approach home stretch. If not it is a good time to go through the food and exercise journals to see where the detours have occurred. I know I have been getting a little sloppy with measurements so I am going to set the measuring cups and spoons on the counter as a reminder while I prep my food and make meals.

    Take care.

    Hi All
i feel like my weight has been out of control and on a bit of roller coaster since getting back from a cruise in the beginning of this month. My goal this month is to lose 5 lbs and I completely relate to the founder of this thread that I would just like to get back to the 160s again. Will try and post often.
I’ll be also posting on the “Just give me 10 days” daily weigh in thread.

My goal over the next 7 days is:
    1) to workout with my son at least once per week
    2) to workout for myself at least 3x per week
    3) get back to eating healthier and low carb
    4) don’t eat past 7pm

    Original starting weight - 160
    Current weight - 174.4
    Goal Weight for Sept- 168
Ultimate Goal: 168 I will keep it at 168 or always 5 lbs less than what I am to not get overwhelmed.

    Hello one and all.

Little to no sleep last night (maybe 2 hours). Glad I am able to work remote and VP understands my sleep patterns. I am a really good sleeper until I am not. Mostly due to underlying stress (personal - self-inflicted) where I wake up slightly and then cannot go back to sleep and am up. Got 30 minute walk in. Will try to get another 30 minutes of activity in before the end of the day.

26th - 142.0 was lower yesterday, but am totally fine with this weigh in. A couple more ounces and I will hit my goal for the month!

    30th -

    Happy Friday One and All.

So I am back up to my "holding pattern". I believe this is due to one of two things. My food measurements have gotten sloppy or I am not eating enough. There have been 2 days this week where I cannot think of eating up to minimum calories of 1,200. Sooooo, if it is food measurements I am eating too much and if those are OK then it's not getting enough food in my system and body is holding on. So for the next few days the measuring spoons and cups will be sitting on the counter and I will eat 1200 calories per day. :)

    Stats
    08/24 - Starting Weight - 195.0
    09'19 Goal - 184.0
    09/01 - 189.0
    09/08 - 186.2
09/15 - 186.0 - Two weeks to go - here's to getting those two pounds off for good!!
    09/22 - 183.2
    09/23 - 182.4
    09/24 - 182.4
    09/25 - 182.4 - still holding
    09/26 - 182.2 - slow but sure
    09/27 - 182.4 - back to holding pattern

So excited to go out and buy a new scale (my reward for sticking to this for 30 days). I will start using it officially on 10/01 since there will probably be an up or down weight adjustment and I want to start out fresh next month.

I hope everyone has a great day!

    Hi.
I was so happy to get the new scale I could not resist starting to use it for daily weigh ins. It is so nice to be able to get on the scale 3 times in a row and get the same weight reading. The old one.....I sometimes weighed myself 5 times and then just took the highest reading. The new scale was used for today's weigh in so I am not seeing it as a loss. My old scale was simply 1.4 pounds off. :)

09/29 - 181.0 - new scale adjustment; there is no way in heck I lost 1.4 pounds in one day

The new scale is the same brand as the old one. Thinking back I had purchased the last one at least 20 years ago; probably closer to 25. Since the old one really has only caused frustration the past 6 months or so I figured I would stick with the same brand (plus it was the only brand available at Wally World). I did not spend the extra money for the one with all of the crazy features such as BMI, fat ratio, and hydration calculations. This one can track the weights of 2 people and will provide weight loss from the last weigh in.

Enough from me. I hope everyone is meeting and/or exceeding their monthly goals.

PS: On weight loss - This past week has been one of a holding pattern. I said, hm, I haven't eaten over my calories, I have been exercising/getting activities in, etc. what the heck is going on here. So pulled out the measuring spoons and cups and found my food measurements were creeping up eyeballing it. Both are now sitting on the counter as a reminder to measure all food intake. :)
