So I accidentally ran a half marathon today. Ops. Set out for 8-10 miles, so I guess it was not much of a stretch. The cool thing is that Strava said my "estimated 10 mile time" was 1:24! I am hoping to break 1:20 in the 10 miler in November, so that is a positive sign.15

Great pictures @ContraryMaryMary. Looks like a fun weekend.0

Looks like my running buddy, Hobbes the Vizsla, is likely going into round 2 of cancer treatment. He had a needle biopsy today with surgery scheduled when we return from NJ. Depending on the biopsy results it could be 2 masses removed under GA or one under a local. The good news it doesn't seem to bother or slow him down much so far.

@shanaber :-( life sucks sometimes, really hope they can sort it.
Just looked up the lists of who has signed up so far for my HM on Nov 3rd. Of 504 people, only 77 are women. I guess this means I will be last of fewer women than if it was a bigger race LOL.5 -

@shanaber so sorry I thought of Hobbes just the other day when I saw a dog that looks just like him, running with his owner. Hope the treatment goes well for him!

Run at least 4 5k races. (Check)
Get under 30:00 and a PR for 5k.
Average at least 135k per month, which would put me over 1,000 miles for the year.
Run the Year Team: Five for Nineteen
Clear and cool this morning; made the run a pleasure rather than a chore. Tried to work on mid-foot striking; as a heel striker, I think that was putting a lot of shock/strain on my knees, hips, and SI joints. See med to work out well; few niggles and my pace piked up a little.

aw, I take a look in here having been absent for a while, and see that about Hobbes @shanaber.
Hope things go well for him. We need him back out there!!!
I'm not going to go through and read all the posts I've missed, life is too short.
quick summary of where I'm at -
find it impossible to follow a training plan for an impending marathon. Having said that, I've managed the long runs I need, on the down side, that's ALL the running I've done, just the long runs......
Marathon is this weekend. Predicted weather is South-Westerlies 20mph gusting 38mph. Race heads West. With lots of hills and a steep cliff to the South.....so on the one hand the wind will keep us on the path, on the other it'll be pushing us back to the start...
and I've been a bit absorbed in having to move house. Early days yet on flat hunting (waiting for a mortgage, hello adult world).
I'll report back in October when the marathon is done and dusted and I have reached the finish line....10 -

@shanaber Big hugs to you and Hobbes. I am hoping for a positive outcome.
Congrats to everyone who raced over the weekend.
Got in 2 miles yesterday morning. I had a terrible migraine last night, and I don’t feel so hot this morning, so skipping today’s run. We fly back to GA tonight.

Thanks all on the thoughts and prayers for Hobbes!@shanaber what’s the prognosis? Is it metastatic or just perhaps they didn’t get the smaller grows that were too small to identify? Best wishes to Hobbes, he seems to be such a gentle loving soul. Well give him to St. Francis for prayer.

Was able to do a 5k run this morning. Been using my new shiatsu massager I ordered a few weeks ago, along with lost of arica rubs and baths trying to get my calf in order. It's all helped, but sometimes there's nothing more healing than a nice little run. I ran a (kinda) new route because I'm kind of bored with my usual routes so that was nice. Ran it at a 10 minute mile pace, which had been a long time goal of mine. This is the third time I've been able to do it, but I think this new route is flatter than my other two. In any case, my calf is better! Still bruised, but as long as I don't bang it again, I think I'm good.

I ran 6.08 miles this morning. I wish I could say it was a great run, but honestly it was a really meh run. It was just so hot and humid that I never really got into the zone and I was just so slow. It is supposed to be fall, but it doesn't seem at all fall-like around here. Maybe tomorrow's run will be better. Although I think it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow, but maybe not as humid. At least I got the run done today, and I'm pretty close to my goal for the month.
@shanaber Lots of hugs to you and to Hobbes.

Actual strength training session during lunch yesterday meant I was a little sore this morning. A few warmup moves and walk, followed by a nice easy run for just over 3 miles was absolutely perfect.
@shanaber More hugs for you and Hobbes, as well as belly rubs and ear scritches if he likes 'em. (Or if you do. )7 -
Morning all.
I never told you how my wet run went yesterday! Well it was wet. Haha. Very wet. Was soaked to the bone before I finished my warm up. And I had the best run I've had in ages. I not only did 5k, I ran the whole way including up the hill I thought it would take me a few weeks to get up. My time was 30:30 - so a long way off my best but also a long way off my worst.
Today I'm planning on a game of squash with Hubby, and another weight lifting session.10 -
I know I'm late..... vacation... life.... I'm down for 26 miles for Sept. I have 15 miles in so far only 11 more to go.

I'm supposed to be tapering for my half next week but I really want to meet my mileage goal I set for this month. I went out to explore a path I used to bike. I couldn't remember if it was paved or just grass/gravel. Went a little further than expected. It was paved thank god. It rained last night so the ground was muddy. I went out before the sun came up in a light drizzle, and tripped on a curb the first two minutes in. No damage, but I am pretty disaster prone, so maybe running in the dark under the cover of clouds before the sun came up wasn't the best idea. I Thought it would be colder than it was, so I overdressed. Got warm pretty quickly, but my body has somehow come to a point where it's able to regulate itself better, so although I was overdressed, I didn't overheat. It's also good practice for my half. The forecast says it might rain, so in the past weeks I've tried out all different outfits for all different conditions. Underdressed, overdressed, so come race day, I think I'll be able to make a good decision as far as what to wear. The weather here's been at that weird point between summer and fall where basically anything goes. Ran with a 4lb weight vest. Ran at a nice relaxed pace, which would have been great, expect I went a mile and a half further than planned and I felt it.
