Hi Kathy! I have low carbed/carb cycled for 2.5 years and lost 100lbs. I have PCOS, which causes weight loss to be pretty slow, but I would say I lost the first 20lbs in 3 to 4 months. Best of luck on getting healthy!! ❤️

Hi Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear this, I cannot imagine how hard it must be to deal with :'(

When I first started the low carb lifestyle, I did a lot of research because it was going to be a huge change in my normal dietary ways. When you start looking into the low carb/ketogenic diet, you will be shocked to see how much you aren't able to eat. But it is a fantastic diet. The effects it has on not only your body, but your mind, are incredible!

It is definitely worth giving it a go, but definitely prepare yourself for it well and stay strong in the face of temptation! We are all here to support you when you need it <3

    Welcome!
Weight loss is all about calories - set your MFP account up to lose weight, get a calorie goal, and log accurately and consistently.

This is a great getting started post, regardless of what diet you follow:

Low carb does work for a lot of people because it helps them eat at the right calorie level. It often leads to them eating less junk food and for some people the higher fat and lower carbs curbs their appetite. It all depends on what types of food you find filling (for me personally, starchy carbs and fiber are filling, so I do better eating higher carb).

If you want to try it out, here is a group that might be helpful:

But if it doesn't control your appetite, don't feel bad! You can just try eating the foods you already eat, just less of them so you hit your calorie goal, as that works for some of us too.

    Good luck!

Ask your oncologist for a referral to an oncology dietitian.
