It's all my kids fault or maybe my husband for getting me pregnant so many times .. no wait my mother..it's always the mother's fault right.. lol
when it comes down to it ..for most of us it many factors are involved.. eating the wrong stuff and too much of it, , not being active,stress , heredity, illness on and on.. Blame is useless really.. you just have to be honest with yourself and what got you where are.. whatever that may be , make changes and move forward.0 -
Do you feel that your weight gain was someone else's fault? I've heard people blame parents, people they were in a relationship with, etc. Who's fault is it that you got to the state you are and/or were in?
Why would I blame anyone or anything else? While I know that is popular way of thinking today where people will shift blame to anyone and anything but themselves, but frankly we make the choice. I was fat because I chose to eat what and how much I did.0 -

I blame the government and all of their nutritional "experts" for pushing the wrong macronutrient on us. I mean c'mon they are telling us to eat more whole grains than fruits and vegetables!! Something is wrong there.
I track carbs (get them from veggies, berries and some nuts). I track protein - sort of - and I eat unlimited fat. Had 54g of fat already today (was just curious about my typical breakfast this morning so I logged it - I usually don't).
We see calories. The body sees fuel, not calories.
I agree with this. Americans have been brainwashed into valuing and demonizing the wrong food for the sake of agricultural subsidies. I do also believe that the individual is also to blame, we can all be free thinkers regardless of what we are continuously told.
I've never limited my carbs. I wasn't even overweight (and was quite tiny) until a few years ago. No matter how many carbs I eat, if my calories are low enough, I lose weight, and usually around 2 pounds per week (though this go-round has been a little less, but I blame that on yo-yoing).
Yes, you'll lose weight eating fewer carbs, but that's because it usually results in fewer calories.
Originally I lost weight the same way, then I stalled for two months. After I switched to a paleo lifestyle the fat began to melt off. My calories are exactly the same, I just reduced my carbs and replaced them with fat. Will carbs effect everyone the same way, no. But the fact is, that overconsumption of carbs has lead to an insulin resistance in many people, which will promote fat storage and inhibit fat loss.
No one is making the blanket statement that everyone should follow a paleo lifestyle, yet the government is making the blanket statement that everyone should follow the Food Pyrmid/MyPlate, which in terms of insulin resistance, is not healthy. This is my complaint and my rationale as to why the government is partially (not fully) to blame.0 -
I blame myself. My mum never forced me into doing anything I didn't want to when I was a kid and I was a shy so I never particpated in much exercise activities except ballet and modern dancing. But if I had more confidence I could've done more stuff. I got bigger as I got older through puberty and teens. I've been with my boyfriend for 4 years and he served big portions, but again I'm to blame cos I ate it all during our early days so I didn't waste it cos I hate waste! At 27 I found sense and now exercise regularly and eat healthier and sensibly.0

i blame the following:
El Fenix for those delicious enchiladas
Chick-Fil-A for those wonderful little chicken sandwiches
Taco Bueno for the mucho nachos
Masseys for the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and cream gravy
KFC for the colonel's recipe

To an extent, I blame my mother. First of all, she taught me poor eating habits. I grew up on soda, fast food, and boxed/frozen meals. I also went through many years of emotional abuse from her, and food was my only comfort. I blame her for calling me fat for as long as I remember, for telling me I looked pregnant when I was 10 years old, and for teaching me such an unhealthy relationship with food.
But I do also have to take some blame myself. I'm 21 years old--I'm an adult. It has been my responsibility to get the therapy I desperately needed, as well as learn a better relationship with food. I should have done it sooner, but I think it takes a lot of soul searching to get to that point.
Thankfully I have finally gotten my head in the right place and I have mostly overcome my issues. I am happy to say that I have an infinitely better relationship with food now. I will never forget the emotional damage from my childhood, but at least I have moved past it.0 -
I blame "The Clean Plate Club". Seriously, I know I'm the only one to blame; I made the poor choices. But growing up I was always told you should "clean your plate" so I usually ate everything on my plate no matter how miserably full I might already be. I wasn't going to get in trouble if I didn't eat everything on my plate but I guess I felt like I shouldn't waste anything. To this day, even after being on this journey for a year, I feel need to eat everything on my plate...so I've gotten smaller plates and cut portion sizes.
amen!!! Im part of that club!! It's a hard habit to break. I try never to use these words with my kids. Its still my fault, I shouldnt have had soooo many plates!!!0 -
Well Duh we can all take the high road and blame ourselves. I ate the food. GOt it
But im blaming my Mother-in-law. Kept me stressed out for the past 3 years with constant drama....and so I ate. A LOT.

Well I don't think that is the high road. I'm pretty sure in most cases when we were packing down the food it wasn't like we wanted to get fatter. I certainly didn't.
I prefer to take responsibility, because I also now have to take responsibility for getting out of it. By accepting responsibility for my weight I can choose to make it positive or negative.
That said, I also have an axe to grind with successive (UK) governments for constantly peddling arbitrary dietary guidelines based on out-of-date studies, guesswork, and catchy taglines. They have admitted the popular "five-a-day" guideline for portions of fruit and veg was wholly chosen because it sounded good and has no basis other than an attempt to make people eat more, but it persists nonetheless.0 -
I blame my Parents for not genetically infusing my genes with self control.
But I also believe that self control can be a learned attribute.
So because I believe that I also blame my teachers for my lack of knowledge.
I also blame Ben and Jerry Marie Calendar Betty Crocker, The stupid Hostess, Wendy (the little red headed biotch) and Jack and his stupid box for being evil manipulative and inconsiderate with their pushing and prodding and constant nagging at me to eat them. (I didn't realize canabalism was still so common)

Wait. We can BLAME SOMEONE ELSE? Why wasn't I told this a long time ago? I would have stopped beating myself up for over eating. Sheesh.
I blame clothing manufacturers for using cheap cloth that shrinks when it hits my dryer.
I blame chocolate for being so damn tasty....

Um, me!! Trust me, no one was force feeding me at anytime during my weight gain. In fact everyone stayed away from me when I was eating, probably for fear of losing an arm or something while I was shoving everything in my mouth. haha.
Yeah...lots of situations happened that I compensated for by eating...but it was never anything or anyone elses FAULT, just mine. =/0 -
That little voice inside me who I kept listening to when it urged me into eating a whole packet of biscuits, or a whole multipack of crisps, or 4 slices of buttered white toast, or two courses instead of one, or 3 courses instead of two, or 2 bars of chocolate and two bags of crisps when watching a film. I dont listen to that voice much now:happy:0

I blame menopause, it started about 4 years ago. I weighed 140-145 always stayed at that weight comfortably.. then slowly started gaining over the last 4 years. Up to 174 my highest. I've always been active and a healthy eater. Now it is just a struggle to lose it but I won't give up!!0

Jut like I know every other parent feels... My kids! LOL j/k...Myself , i could make the time by sacrificing other things, which is what I am going to do now.
