Uneven Belly Fat

So glad this is being discussed. I have even belly fat... my left side is larger than right, but it wasn’t always this way. It wasn’t until I had to get physical therapy for my sciatica and they started doing a lot of leg exercised Favoring my right leg... I lost weight on that side but my right which they only worked sometime the same therefore causing my stomach fat to be uneven. They should have been working both sides equally.

You *can* work both sides equally. I suspect it's your *muscle* that is uneven and not your actual belly fat. I have slightly more pronounced muscles on one side of my stomach than the other, due to the way I stand - a habit I've developed because one of my legs is shorter than the other after a hip injury. I try to make an effort to square up as often as I remember, but it's a habit that's taken years to break, because it's something I do absentmindedly. The unevenness of my musculature is not as extreme as it used to be, but I can still notice it if I'm looking for it.7

I agree it makes more sense that it's what under the fat that is uneven.
In my case, it's my uterine fibroids.5 -

^This. If it hasn't always been uneven and now it suddenly is larger on one side than the other, that could be a medical thing going on. It would be worth mentioning to a doctor. Another vote for getting it checked out. I went to the doctor some years ago with what turned out to be a silent uti (urinary tract infection with no symptoms until I had excruciating lower abdominal pain) and when he palpated my abdomen he said ‘how long have you had this mass?’.
He was referring to a distended lower abdomen which was very slightly lopsided. I’d noticed it but had put it down to getting older (51 at the time) and being slightly overweight, having had 4 kids and having had an appendectomy a few years earlier, wrecking the muscles multiple times.
Turned out to be fibroids the size of a 20 week pregnancy! Had the whole kit and caboodle removed 2 weeks later and the difference was amazing! I wish I’d had it checked out years earlier, would have saved me 10 years of having to make sure my tops were long enough to cover my tummy and of feeling older and fatter than I really was!8 -
The difference between uneven musculature and tumors generally being sensation. I can *flex* my "unevenness" and make it more or less pronounced. When I have a *mass*, it'll sometimes slide around when I flex, but I can't control where it goes.
Which is all kind of gross to think about, but helpfully diagnostic of whether or not concern is indicated.2 -

Fascinating conversation!
I actually do have uneven belly fat, but it’s because I had abdominal surgery to remove an ovarian tumor which had caused a torsion. It was done laparoscopically, but I was obese at the time and the surgeon had to cut through a substantial thickness of fat to get inside. When the main incision healed, the fat layers around it shrunk. Now that I have lost enough weight to have loose skin, the skin sags on my lower belly except where the incision was, as if an upholsterer tacked it down!7 -

I also have uneven belly fat. I have had it for years and there appears to be no underlying cause based on the many times I have asked doctors to figure it out. It's basically a bump on my lower right abdomen towards the center. Drives me nuts. Although right now my core could use some work, this bump was there even when I regularly did yoga classes and strength training.1
