Curly or straight?

I’m curious. A lot of women straighten their naturally curly hair because they think that’s what is attractive. I used to hate my curls and did this all the time. What do y’all prefer?

Everyone has different taste and different styles look better on certain people. I tend to find loose/wavy/curly hair a little more sexier than pin straight but that's not to say I dislike it in anyway.

My sister has curly hair and she HATEs it because of how frizzy and the up keep, also it makes her face look fat 🤷🏻‍♂️.

does she think it makes her face look fat or do you? sorry not clear on the latter part

Tell her to try the curly girl method. It has worked wonders for my curls! I used to hate mine but I’m fully embracing it now! 😁

Firstly, the OP would be gorgeous bald.

Personally, with pin straight hair, I spent decades curling it with hot rollers or irons... that grass is greener syndrome. Now, I just embrace straight... I occasionally curl it into soft waves. I have no preference. I've known women with all sorts of wave patterns or none & they all look beautiful.

Hair's an accessory. Straighten or curl it at your will. Said as a former hairdresser... healthy hair is beautiful, regardless of curl pattern. Do both... whatever you feel. They're all pretty.

I think both are great. I have only a little bit of natural wave in my hair and have started playing it up as much as I can, about half the time. I coil a couple top pieces in spirals in clips after my shower and it gives the illusion of a lot more wave. The rest of the time I straighten my hair which is easy since it's fairly straight. I would love to have big springy curls like yours, OP!

I think life would be boring if we all looked the same. A lot of the young women at work wear exactly the same hairstyle and they look like they all popped out of a factory.

The OP's hair is gorgeous, very striking! I say rock those curls!

My hair is baby fine with a bit of wave that unfortunately gets frizzy because of its fine texture. I lose about 50% of its volume if I straighten it, which leaves me looking like I don't have much hair at all. Any frizz-control products just weigh it down. I've learned to let it air dry and not to waste time fighting it because whatever look I achieve will be gone by noon.

    OP your hair is gorgeous!

I used to have thickish wavy hair, now its thinner but curly. I feel all of you about the frizz factor, and the unpredictability of how your curls will "behave".

I try to "tame" mine into a smooth wave by spiraling it into ringlet pigtails to dry lately. It gives a really nice soft wave, and its smooth feeling - highly recommend you curly, wavy ladies try - no heat needed, and a smooth, "controlled" result.

I like my natural curls - when they look good, but it means hours of undisturbed drying time and I don't have that time on work days. Also jackets, hoodies, wind = "bad hair day" for my curls if air drying.

I sometimes straighten my hair because I'll have a "predictable" result. And I often get complimented when I do - makes me feel like I look like hell all the rest of the time!

My children have super curly hair which is the main reason why I've grown their hair out! I hope they never straighten it but yeah you're right, most people I know with curly hair straighten it!

I have a proper afro - I stopped using chemicals to straighten it 5 years ago so it's a full on 4c hair now. It's a pain but the curls are here to stay!

Definitely. In the early 2000s I wore a pixie cut and 90% of my friends and coworkers had angled bobs with side bangs. Most had highlights too. Nothing wrong with that but man they all had identical hair!

I love curls!! I always wanted more curls to my hair, and unfortunately can’t figure out how to properly work a curling iron to save my life lol

I have very curly hair and just recently have embraced my hair as it is naturally. A few times a month, I'll have it styled just so.i don't have to mess with it for several days.
At 61 years old, I've started dating again, the guys all show a strong preference to the curls.
