OK, so I'm going to give this a try since working alone has not been successful.
My Story:So here's the scoop on me. I never struggled with my weight when I was younger because I was active and had a great metabolism. Many times I was underweight. In my 30s I started really focusing on fitness but then a few surgeries set me back slightly. In my early 40s I was teaching group exercise classes and increasing my strength workouts. I loved the way I looked when I was lean and defined. Then *BAM* I started to go through pre-menopause and (pardon the language) everything went to hell in a handbasket. From age 42-48 (now) I have gained 25 pounds and loss significant muscle weight. At age 47 I officially went into menopause and with the help of bioavailable hormone replacement, that part of my life is back on track. Just not the weight.
Motivation. My motivation is my husband. We've only been together for 4 years and I'm not happy with how my body has changed for the worse. I want to be fit and happy again. I'm not looking for a miracle, just the mindset to get it done and not have to deal with weight issues again.
Goals. Long term goal is to get back down to a healthy weight but be lean again. I'm not so much concerned with the number on the scale as long as I am lean. Would I like to lose the 25 pounds I've gained over the past 5 years...you bet! But I want to look good, not just focus on the number on the scale.
No longer can I use hormone imbalance as an excuse. I am medically within normal limits for my age and menopause status. Time to just get real, cut back on the alcohol, and get to the gym whether I want to or not.

Two parties yesterday. I did the best I could under the circumstances, but did eat too much. Lots of salt, and not enough water, so some of this is definitely water - I can feel it. Oh well. I’ve decided to just eat as healthfully as possible between holiday shindigs, do the best I can at said shindigs, and try not to gain. ‘It’s the season!

12/9 160.3 Same as yesterday. I'm so glad that the water is gone. I have to stop worrying about being out of the obesity range. I think it's messing with my brain. Stick to the plan, stop thinking about artificial designations. A real goal is that I'm .06 away from having lost 25% of my starting weight. Sure it's taken more than a year and a half but since starting this challenge I've lost an average of .053 pounds per week and .78 pounds per Round. Remind me when I'm whining about water retention.11 -

I'm a pickleball addict and have been plagued with shoulder/chest/elbow/wrist injuries for about a year. My new plan is to incorporate strength training. My first upper body workout was Saturday and I'm still sore this Monday. But feeling great and excited about the new plan.

Sunday is heavy weight training day + higher calories so that seems to be followed by a bump - whether it is carbs or DOMS from squats/deadlifts/benchpress, etc, this is a temporary bump and should get back to last round’s weight soon. My Birthday is Thursday and DH’s is Friday (going to a black tie optional dinner dance) so some challenges with eating out ahead, but not out of the ordinary. But I'm back on the wagon with keto and with tracking in MFP and posting in these challenges to help maintain my progress. It's so much harder to make progress now that the holidays are here and the weather has changed. Being cozy in sweatpants with a hot chocolate is just so much more appealing. Trying to remind myself that I have my whole life to enjoy special treats, I don't need to have them all now and I can treat myself a little while still making healthy choices for the rest of the day. Hopefully I can get this weight jump off by the end of this challenge

REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
