So a couple of months ago The Trophywife was preparing tacos.

She placed several taco shells in the oven to warm then..... got distracted and forgot about them.

They were charred black beyond recognition.... and several minutes later, when the oven opened, the kitchen filled with smoke.

We had to open the windows & turn on some fans to clear the smoke; it was pretty bad.

She was upset with herself but my son and I laughed it off.
No worries; we still had tacos that night.

What does this have to do with Christmas gifts ? Well, I'll tell you....

She took the burnt tray of blackened taco shells and placed them on the back patio.
I let them cool and threw them away.... except for one.

I took that one and placed it in a storage bag and gave it to my our son.
    I told him:

"Here, it's still several weeks away, but this incinerated taco shell would make a nice Christmas gift for your mother."

    His reaction:

"Thanks Dad! This could be the best Christmas ever!"

I've started, but still have a lot to do! I'm really resenting it this year to be honest. I feel more and more like we don't need things, but no one else seems to agree so i'm sort of stuck. Next year ill hopefully be in a better position to plan ahead and sort things that aren't just tat and rubbish, without breaking the bank or my sanity.
