I had a 5 minute power test (cycling) this morning and not only did I get some new best numbers but I hit a max HR I haven't seen for a while. I've started to really see that my raw power numbers are actually pretty good, the problem is that my weight means that the w/kg numbers are lower than they could be. I think my new coach agrees as he's given me a 3 hour fat burning ride with strict instructions on when/how much to eat for next week (start fasted then about 50g carbs per hour for the 2nd and 3rd hour).
(I'd actually lost about a stone before I started working with him so his training aligns with what I was trying to do anyway).9 -
I had gotten to the point where I was really uncomfortable with my body and how I looked in everything- I had given up on certain types of clothing thinking I was past the point where I could wear those things- fitted tank tops, shorts, above-knee skirts. I was just looking for loose t-shirts and midi-dresses. I could understand how women get to a certain age and give up on looking cute (I’m 38).
Well, lost 25lbs using mfp, and I’m now looking for those clothing items I thought were hopeless for me! I was looking for something to wear to work yesterday and pulled out a dress that had been in my donation bag for months because it was tight in the hips and rode up. It was completely loose in a cute way!24 -
The pants I packed on my trip home in February were tight. Now, I brought them again this visit, and they fit just right. \o/17

Pushups.
10 of them.
Couldn’t even do 1 five weeks ago.
Feels good to be strong.19 -
I turned 55 on Dec 1st and bought myself this t-shirt to acknowledge and also celebrate it. At this time last year, I didn't think I would make it to 55. I was in such horrible health and shape, and now 88 lbs lighter am a changed man and have a body and health that I haven't seen since I was 35. Never lose hope or give up!

At my most recent doctor's appointment, she told me that whatever I was doing to keep doing it. All my blood work was great, I was down 10# since my last visit and my blood pressure was normal.
My migraines have improved drastically and I truly feel like a million bucks most days.
What I did was quit eating processed food and I gave up soda.
I do go "off track" once in awhile for a meal out, but it truly is once in awhile and for only one meal. I still avoid my food triggers even then.
That's awesome! I rarely see migraines mentioned on MFP but for me, pretty severe ones have completely stopped since I lost the majority of my excess weight (100+). What used to be a serious health problem for me during my twenties & part of my thirties, no longer happens...it's crazy and awesome! I'm so glad you're having a similar outcome!
My latest NSV was a comment from an old friend last night. I've been maintaining in the same small range for years, so it's not like I've recently lost weight. We see each other every month or two so she is used to the "new" me for the most part. But we were together at a store and I was in line while she was in the restroom. When she came to find me she said that between my longer hair and how "skinny" I looked from the back, she truly didn't recognize me at first and thought that was someone else. Made me feel very good, even though I still have a huge rear end (which I am fine with) and am deifnitely not skinny. haha18 -

My trainer grabbed my leggings at the knees and told me they were getting loose!14

Today I fell in my driveway while bringing in groceries. I limped inside, made my planned salad, and then dropped it - splat all over the kitchen floor, to be trod upon by my dog (his hopes were quickly dashed by the dullness of undressed lettuce). Grimly remade the salad and promptly dropped it AGAIN to the same results (dog by this point feeling very betrayed). I took a big, big breath and did not reach for the delivery menus as badly as I wanted to. And oh how I wanted to at that point
I decided that fate was telling me something about the salads, and made a small baked potato with steamed veggies instead. Eating it felt like the gold medal of NSV's. Here's hoping that tomorrow goes a bit better than today, though!54 -
It sure doesn't feel like a victory... all of my clothes just don't fit. All of my shirts don't fit. All of my pants don't fit. All of my shorts don't fit. Every time I have to go outside I have to wear a pair of jeans as high up my stomach as possible, wrap a belt around my ribs and wear the exact same medium-size coat that was given to me as a hand me down by a friend and pull it far over the jeans so people can't tell. The coat is the ONLY thing I have that fits even a little. Even then every time I'm carrying groceries home I have to constantly stop, put them down and pull my pants up over and over.
I simply don't have the money to buy clothes so IDK what I'm going to do. Around the house it's fine to wear unfitting clothes but going outside I only have 1 outfit that I have to constantly keep washed and ready to go. In June I got rid of all my old clothes that were too big and bought new ones that were tight so they'd last long as I lost weight. Now they're far too big and have already been for a long time.
When I finally do get new clothes it's probably gonna be the same lol. It's bittersweet. At least it means I'm getting closer and closer to one day being able to buy clothes that will last!

Thrift shops can help tide you over, or if you’re really desperate ask around and ask friends to pass the word down the line, usually someone somewhere is going up while you’re going down. When I was in the process of losing I bought a few simple things at Walmart on clearance just so I wouldn’t be falling out of my clothes.
By the way your new icon photo looks great!10 -

Many, many congratulations on your loss so far! It is absolutely an NSV, even if it's bittersweet (as you say).
In addition to shopping thrift stores and friends' closets, check to see if there are free exchange social things in your area (we use freecycle, but I think Craigslist used to have a 'free only' section and there are others). We've mostly used it for clothes for our son (and my kettlebells... and our piano... and to give away countless things we didn't need but someone else did...) but in my experience people just want their old things to have a further life - and you may end up meeting some wonderful folks along the way. It may be the wrong time of year for them, but garage/car boot sales are brilliant for finding 'new to you' at hilariously inexpensive.
When I lost a ton of weight and couldn't replace jeans, I would roll them at the waist. Doesn't work if they're more than about 3 sizes too big, but it did keep them on my hips.7 -
A little disappointed in your dog @martianspuds as our go mad for a bit of iceberg with cucumber and tomato!
Just back from my weekend visiting family and a friends do for his 50th. Lots of compliments from people I haven't seen in 6 months or more ranging from - "wow, you've lost weight" to "you look really good". Feeling chuffed though I did eat very badly whilst travelling so need to switch back on today.
I appreciate the advice for @Madwife2009 though I would be more conciliatory. As I have a son and daughter at Uni I understand their times have not been easy and when things kick off it is easy to shut the door to them. The pressures of Uni, being away from your traditional support structure, new relationships that can go wrong - there are lots of things other people don't know about and your children will find it difficult to talk about as this is the bit where they are supposed to be all grown up. I don't for one second believe in this softly-softly give them a safe space stuff, my two have had to learn the hard way that $h1t happens and you cannot allow it to make you a victim however I also believe that the one door that should always be open is from your parents. Whatever the issues are they are probably not with the colour of the room and this is just an outlet for the anger. On somebody else's suggestion I gave my two offspring a card that says "I need to talk about something and I don't know how to say it" and they can leave it for me or send me a picture of it and I will make the time to talk about it. Occasionally I have to tell them to stop being a dumbass about something but they appreciate I won't just brush it off and if I say that it is probably true. Good luck and I hope you get to the bottom of it.21 -
At the start of the year I really struggled to do a 5kg OHP or bent over row. Today I had to do a fasted workout so went for light weights. Halfway through I realised my light weights are 20kg!! For a little 5ft 2 person I was rather impressed with myself19

It absolutely is! I got a big suitcase at HS graduation and it’s still in use 20 years later!8 -
I had my blood drawn and analyzed at my annual Dr. visit last year. I was barely into the pre-diabetic stage with my Hgb A1c% (5.7%), and my HDL (good cholesterol) was low (37). That's what jump started me into my most current iteration of weight loss. I got the results back from my latest blood work, and both my HDL and my A1c% are in the normal range. Bonus: my LDL (bad cholesterol), triglycerides, overall cholesterol, have all improved as well.
NSV 2: I bought a slim fit suit for an annual alumni dinner that I attend every year. It will be this coming Friday, and my wife thinks I look really good in it.21 -
