So I've worn elastic hair ties around my wrist since I was in highschool. The last few years though I stopped wearing them there because they had started to cut in to my wrist and cause tingling sensations in my hands. I would purposefully go through all of my hair ties to find the ones that were stretched out and looser if i wanted to wear one on my wrist. I realized today that over the last few months I haven't had to hunt through and find the loose ones but i can now wear the ones that are newer and it doesn't cause me any discomfort!29

This is such an underrated win. I always have a hair tie on each wrist, at all times. At a higher weight, I would need to adjust them while I was sleeping because they'd cut off my circulation if I was laying on my arms. I haven't had to worry about readjusting them in like a year!14 -

This is me too. XD I can wear them all on my wrist!11 -
Yesterday I went out for lunch with a friend and COMPLETELY FORGOT that my child's school FROZEN CUSTARD FUND RAISER was that evening. So I had more calories for lunch than usual, and came home to discover that I was going to be having ice cream for dinner if I wanted to stay on target.
I managed to have a chicken sandwich (saddest sandwich ever) and tomato soup (much better than the terrible chicken sandwich) AND a mini raspberry cheese cake topped mini custard AND stay within my calorie goals for the day.
And today I went to the gym and squatted more than my own body weight for 5x5 after having trouble with 5# less than that on Monday.
Thus, I am totally FORCED to give credit to "ice cream for dinner" for my unexpected gym success.31 -

Some of my best gym days have been the day after a carb loaded dinner. Maybe there is something to that carb loading theory.

At the airport yesterday, decided to walk laps in the terminal instead of vegetating at the gate, and got in a mile and a half.
Exhausted from the time change, woke up this morning with something sharp digging into the back of my hand, which was flung acrost my face. Realized it was the bridge of my nose. I knew my face had thinned out, but holy cow! That thing has gotten like a knife blade!21 -
My daughter is having some mental health issues. Normally this would send me to lots of stress eating. (I love you carbs!) But now, I am taking self care precautions like getting enough sleep, eating healthy, tracking my food, drinking water, spiritual health, etc. This is helping to make me a better care giver to her as well as helping me and the rest of my family.37

When my fit colleague protested after I refused snacks by letting her know I needed to lose 2 more pounds. My runner colleague said I didn't need to. She shrieked louder in revolt when I informed her that my doctor says I need to lose 12 pounds because of my height 4'11" and the Asian American BMI chart. She called my doctor whacked and urged me not to listen to him. I assured her I'll be content at 2 more pounds of loss because it will be my high school weight as an athletic cheerleader 30 years ago.15

It's almost hard to believe these size 42 jeans were tight just last April. I now fit into size 34's once again. The last time I was in 34's, it was 2002. I have also gone from 3XL's to L & XL shirts.

That’s awesome!
I recently tried on some ‘mom’ jeans in a size 14 only to discover they were far too big. Shocked, I went to fetch a size 12 to try on, a little nervous they wouldn’t fit, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they did!22 -

That’s fantastic!! Your hard work is paying off.9 -
I ate half my dinner last night, realized I was full, and put the rest away. I've brought it for lunch today.
This is a weird double-NSV for me. For one, it's rare for me to feel full and stop eating. Every time I do, I feel hope that I'm learning how to be around food like a normal person. It doesn't always happen.
For two, 9 months ago that dinner was one that always left me still a bit hungry after eating the whole thing. It's weird that half is filling but I guess I just don't need as much food as I used to.
Stomachs shrink, right?30 -

I feel like stomachs totally shrink! There is no way that even if I gave myself all of the mental space to eat as much as I wanted to that I could eat the same amount of food as I used to in a day. I would be tragically sick. I get uncomfortably full much faster these days, I think that overall bodies are just really and truly super adaptable. You give it more food, and it adapts to coping with that much, give it less ans it adapts to that too.17 -

That is awesome. I agree, I do think stomachs shrink. If not scientifically, then at least mentally. I used to be able to eat 3-5 slices of pizza, or 3 slices and some cheese fries. (TMI Alert) However, when I've done that recently my stomach actually forced myself to regurgitate it because I guess it was so full there was literally nowhere else for it to go. It does help me contain my caloric intake since I feel much fuller after much less food than I was used to, so I stop much earlier than before and prevent that auto-regurge from happening again.

I have kept all my clothes from my previous "skinny" days (yes, that means some of them are 20 years old but in good condition...) in hopes that I'd be able to wear them again. And as I've been losing weight over the last year, I've been resorting to go "shopping" in my own closet instead of actual stores. So far, so good.
But I absolutely needed a new shirt for an event I'm attending, so today I went into a store to buy one. I don't think I had set foot in a fitting room for over a year and a half, and I don't have a full size mirror at home. I was genuinely surprised - and even a bit overwhelmed - when I took a good look at my now smaller body. I left with an S-sized shirt (a year ago I would have needed an L or an XL) and the certainty that the pants I was wearing are now way too big for me.25 -
This is a sad victory... I'm in the healthy bmi range not just in the American chart but also on the Asian American bmi chart! Sad part is that my size C bra no longer fits and I have to buy B cups now...just as I was in high school 30 years ago... so sad...That was the one place I loved gaining weight. I will try lifting more weights or reps for chest flys to see if that helps.18

My blood pressure is not only no longer borderline high or above, but my first number is sometimes only two digits!26

This morning I put on a pair of pants that I was excited to zip the first week of September, because they hadn't fit in a couple of years. Now they're getting too loose... I can pull out the waistband and see the inside of the zipper.23

My doctor took me off my blood pressure and cholesterol meds.47

kept my weight down over Thanksgiving which is a miracle because we were traveling. I guess this is a scale victory but had to share. I have been known to gain 7 lbs over a holiday. Also I was at the parade last night and they kept giving out candy canes, love those things, gave them away to the kids!25

Went from a size 10 pant to size 8! First time since the 90's!!28

My appetite is finally adjusting and I am getting away from my bad habits of emotional/boredom eating. I'm even doing pretty well at avoiding the endless office treat stream that happens between Halloween and Christmas!25

I’m a black leggings kind of girl, but I impulse bought these on Black Friday (partially bc the name—dragon fit—reminded me of all the Dragon Pants NSVs!). Got them out this morning and thought “what was I thinking?! These are pretty much white leggings!”
Put them on and went to the gym. Didn’t die of embarrassment.
Bought them acc to manufacturer’s measurements...and they’re too big. They’re supposed to be compression leggings, but they’re too big in the waist and don’t compress anything. Guess I haven’t measured myself in a while!

OMG. I want a pair of dragon leggings!!
That's awesome and you look great in them!!13 -
I find it motivating to have some clothes that are just a little too small that I try on every few weeks and watch them fit better and better. I watch clearance sales and when I see some good deals, I'll order the some of the smaller size and get excited trying to fit into them. I guess this is my version of measuring my inches. Anyway, I ordered some Black Friday clearance items in size 12 and XL thinking that this would give me something to work for. They fit - they all fit! This isn't the kind of - oh, I can put it on but shouldn't wear it - they fit perfectly! I haven't been in size 12 in over 13 years!26

I bought a bunch of new t-shirts for working out and general use to mark my 8 month anniversary of my journey today. From XXXL to L with a little room to spare

Had to buy a new suit today. The last one I got--in January this year--was too large by 4 inches in the chest and in the waist. I'm pretty close to what I think my maintenance level will be, so I guess I don't mind at this point needing to purchase it. So, half victory, half annoyance.20
