Should I be afraid??!! LOL. Are there alternative exercises for some of these? I know I am not allowed to do jumping jacks at this point. I do have an alternate way of doing them according to the doctor, just have to make sure they are acceptable to you. Guess I will be spending some time on youtube the next few days because I have not heard of some of these things!!

BUT I AM DEFINITELY UP FOR THE CHALLENGE!!
    LET'S GO, LADIES!!

I have a Google Doc for each of you! I need your Gmail address, if you do not have a Gmail, give me your regular email and I will invite you to Gmail.

    On the Spreadsheet:

Each day you complete an exercise challenge (either Bushman or Pygmy) you will put a "1" in the appropriate block.

Each day you complete the team challenge you will put a "1" in the appropriate block.

THIS Thursday you will put your start weight in the appropriate block.

The next Wednesday you will put your "end week 1 weight" in its block.

I will tally all the individual sheets and post the whole sheet here for all to check out and send our points to Gary!

If there are any ADDITIONAL challenges you will report their completion to me (unless I can get them onto your individual sheet).

I will not be tracking people down to get totals... if you do not REPORT it, you get no credit... (even if you did it!!! So report it!!!!)

If you have problems with the spreadsheet, please message me ASAP... Either I will fix it, help you do it, or (last choice) you can report to me by message.

    My Goal for September is:

    1. sonybalony - Capt (Sonia) - 10 pound loss:bigsmile:

    Becca,

For the Jumping Jacks, use what your Dr gave you!

Gary will be posting some additional YouTube links this afternoon as well.

You can choose on a DAILY basis whether you want to be a Pygmy or a Bushman!

(I am a little afraid to do the Bushman ones! lol)

  • Hello fellow team members!

My name is Laura, I'm 51 years old, and I was part of the August challenge. Sonia is a great leader, IMHO, as she has a gift for communicating genuine care and support, but also can 'kick it up a notch' and get you motivated when need be, too. I nearly quit when I had a sudden death in the family (my aunt) during the August challenge and I'm so glad I hung in there to finish - thanks, Sonia. :flowerforyou:

    My September goals are:
    1) lose 5 pounds
    2) cook more at home
    3) break the connection of food and drink as a stress reliever after a long day at work
    4) use exercise as an enjoyable way to relieve stress
    5) continue with food diary habits to hold me accountable to me

Looking forward to our collective journey together!

    did mine go thru?
  • Becky,

I lost 3 pounds total over the month (from 160 starting weight to current 157). I am seeing a direct correlation to planning meals, grocery shopping, eating consistently at home (and packing lunches) with my progress or lack of. I am also more aware of how much stress plays into my choices, particularly when I get home bone tired after a 12-13 hour work and commute day M-F. One step and improvement at a time.. Laura

    Good Evening WannaWeigh'Wa Tribe,

(this is kinda a teary post, so if you don't want to deal with that right now, I will post in a little while a more normal team post)

I wanted to say Thank You to all of you who offered sympathy and support this afternoon:flowerforyou: ... I am still feeling really emotional:cry::brokenheart: .... Sylvie and I have been together a long time and she was instrumental in my last weight loss.... we went on MANY long walks together... (she is such a HUGE walk lover, brings me her leash when she hears the word W.A.L.K. spelled out!!!) I know she has, at most, a few weeks... and until she can't anymore, we are going to be spending a lot of time together... nobody should be alone while their body gives out... Christian and I are taking her and Heidi out this weekend to her favorite trail in the woods... she LOVES sniffing out all the little animal paths! We are going to make sure she enjoys every last moment she has! You all were right, stuffing food (albeit healthy food) is not the way to deal with this... I thought about it and realized she and I have done more since I have lost the weight then we have in a LONG time... My being healthy means I can be here for her now and also for my boys when all this finally comes to its natural end.:frown: Watching her deal with this, still being the happy dog she is, wagging her tail and running after the neighbor cat  made me realize how much joy we can all get from BEING here, participating in our own lives, LIVING in our own bodies! I think if she could speak and I gave all that up because of this, she'd have some rather pointed remarks for me! <--- her stern face! The ending of her time here, is making me think about my dad's passing last spring,:brokenheart: and I KNOW that a BIG part of why he passed so much sooner than he should have, is health issues... or rather, unhealthy issues. The changes I have made over the last several months are not just for now... they are for my future... the graduations, weddings, births... the sicknesses, trials, deaths... The way I choose to live now, helps determine the future I get to participate in. If I don't continue with this now, I may not be able to celebrate the joyous occasions or comfort during the sad ones... I am so glad she has been a part of my life... I wouldn't trade all that LOVE for not having to deal with this...

Thank you again for being here and letting me cry on your shoulders.

    :flowerforyou: ~ Sonia
  • It breaks you up, Sonia, I know it and have gone through it. There is no way around the unconditional comfort of a pet and the helplessness you feel as primary caregiver at this time. However, you are also the grateful recipient of all that unconditional companionship and appreciation! The furry bits add even more to the equation, lol. It's emotional, it's heartbreaking, but you'll never regret the special moments. How is the rest of the family handling it?

Chris is being VERY practical... He needed ALL the info he could get, and once he researched a bit, he decided as long as she is still happy, he wants her here... when she is starting to hurt/etc, we need to let her go... He is also very concerned for our Shepherd, Heidi... He researched how pets react when their companions pass, he has a plan for it... I think he is dealing the best he can... My husband is, as always, practical... He doesn't want her suffering... My youngest.... well, he and his daddy are visiting family this weekend and I don't think Vince has told him yet... Chris stayed with me, cause he had an idea that this vet visit wasn't a typical shots and fecal check visit... She's already having trouble keeping food down this evening... the tumors are so huge around her throat... almost 1/3 larger than this afternoon... We will be going in Tuesday (I hope) for the medicine that the vet suggested to make her comfy... As long as she is still happy, tail waggy, and pain free...

  • Sonia,
I really feel for you having to watch a loved one suffer. Your dog will be watching you from doggie heaven and saying, "She better take care of herself as good as she did when I was with her." I believe that your dog was brought her on earth to get you on a healthy path and now it' s her time to leave since she knows you can continue this journey without her. You are a great doggy mommy.
As a new dog owner myself; to a black lab named KoKo, you have inspired me to take her for a walk this morning. i couldn't help but think of your relationship with you and your dog last night. i got up this morning and said, I want that love too. We just went for a walk; although challenging, because she's a 14 week pup and wants to stop and see EVERYTHING! We still did it because of you!! And sometime today we are going to finish the challenge with my 6 year old Parker. i need to be a better role model for him.

    Thanks!!
  • Sonia,

Im sorry about your dog. Know that you are doing everything you can to make her happy and comfy now.
