I have been walking 1.63 miles per day and helped for 9 hours load a downed tree into a trailer and then unloaded it, I have been sticking to a 1200 calorie per day religion and I have gone UP THE SCALE 2.6 pounds. What the hell is happening??????

How long have you been doing this?
How much total weight do you have to lose?
How do you measure your portions?
A burst of unusual activity like dealing with a downed tree can cause water retention to repair your muscles causing you to temporarily gain water weight.7 -
Water weight retention from the activity if your logging is accurate and verified by a food scale. Also, as a woman, where you are in your cycle could cause water weight. Or you ate 8000 or so extra calories?5

when I increase my exercise, I retain water big time. This is most likely what is happening with you too. To stay as accurate as possible, make sure to weigh everything you put in your mouth with a food scale.2

Well, I have been doing this for 9 days, I have about 20 pounds total to loose and I measure my portions on a digital food scale. WTH.....when can I expect a change? I worry because I am 61 and heart/stroke issues run in my family. I know that 20 lbs isn't much, but to me it is huge. I am at 156 and want to be at 136. Can someone be my buddy and help me through this?3

Keep doing what you are doing and give it at least a month. If you are consistent and accurate, you will see a loss. with 20 lbs to lose, you don't want to be too aggressive anyway, so it WILL take longer. Be patient and don't give up. I'm 55 and have lost 90 lbs and am down to my last 10 or so lbs and it is a slow go from here, which is completely fine!7 -

Nine days is nothing! With 20 lbs to lose, you should be expecting to lose 0.5 - 1 lb per week. Plus water weight can swing up or down several lbs from day to day and week to week, often hiding fat loss on the scale. You are looking for progress over months, not days.
Please be patient, you don't just want to lose the weight, you want to keep it off. Figuring out how to eat at the right calorie level happily for the rest of your life will do you far more good than rushing off 20 lbs and then crashing into the willpower wall

I bet you are feeling stiff and sore from all that bending and lifting. It is a huge workout. That soreness means you have a lot of fluid retention while your muscles repair. It will settle down over the coming days and you will shed that extra water as a result.5 -
Thank you everyone. These words of wisdom help a lot. And YES I am super sore and I can barely sit down without hanging on to something...pathetic. I have never been overweight in my life but at this age I feel a layer of fat wrapping itself around me . I have to be careful. Family history shows that this is what happens prior to developing a heart condition. That's what scares me. Plus I have a closet full of clothes that I cannot wear. I will let you all know the outcome and good luck to you all, you are very comforting and helpful. Thanks again.6
