Exercise Band what is it?

Found out this morning finally a little light!
That after my T Csection y lots of surgeries been healing 2 1/2yrs that I’m allowed to use an exercise band to hopefully regain arm y stomach muscles that were fully lost! Been lifting with my back no choice no muscles left Doctor cut through them all so need them back got a heavy toddler!

1 Where do you buy them online?
2. What do they look like?
3. How do you use them?
4. Is their more exercising that can be done with them after extreme Csection y surgeries (like a hysterectomy it was bad so can type hysterectomy in to find stuff too) .

Desperate 40 yr old new again Mom needing to know!

If you have video link to online links be grateful so Thankyou ahead of time! Been searching but not sure if I’m typing it in wrong or what spending the next couple days gaining knowledge cause need this dearly! If I answer back sound spacy don’t mind it been that way since having my last kid. Living in a brain fog

I wasn't sure what you were referring to, but a Google search for exercise band came up with this:

    https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=exercise+band

Is that what you're looking for?

I have a set of bands that come with handles and ankle straps, as well as an instruction book and DVD. Maybe look for a set like that to help you get started. There are also many exercise videos that incorporate bands. There are different kinds of bands, so look around before deciding.

When I searched so many types came up I’m still confused which is best. Read some break yikes 😳
I found this one while searching Walmart http://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Mountain-Products-Resistance-Band-Set/47346081

Seems to have good reviews even from a kids gym teacher y it’s half off! Glad they come with instructions. I worked at a gym back in the day they didn’t have these. Shows you older you get the more you learn with age. Of course many teens to young adults have worked at a gym lol I’m not young no more no more. That’s a lot of years out of the loop my last time at a gym they just installed TVs on machines! Neat idea I watched the news ran away. Then I invested in a home gym. Got pregnant now spiders in the garage are using it all lol . Had them weight bar sets not allowed to weight lift anymore. A treadmill but it’s in the garage baby cries while time if mama takes a bath even! He’s a Mama’s boy enjoying it until he gets to the teen or tween ewwww mom don’t hug me age.

Looked for ones like handles that you mentioned not sure if this has ankle straps tho

Dancing Mooseie- thinking of buying it since it’s on sale pairing it with some kids Christmas gifts to get free shipping!

Think those black thingys in the upper left of the picture are ankle straps. Hoping so! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Mountain-Products-Resistance-Band-Set/47346081

Shows it starts at 2lbs goes up y up so perfect for starting out working my way up. If no video might be some on the YouTube. I’d be happy for written instructions even.

Also interested in learning some Yoga ...but not baby yoga where they lift their newborns to toddlers my son loves to pass my weight lifting requirements every step of the way! He’s 4ft tall 40lbs turning 3yrs old in March . One Doctor suggested it but was talking about the baby yoga classes had a pamphlet with moms lifting their kids. Showed her my baby that was in the waiting room after she didn’t understand my Nope Nope 👎 Nope reaction. She saw him said Gigantism? Yup 👍 she agreed Nope nope 👎 nope . Any that doesn’t require lifting him would work tho I think if their after abdomen surgery safe types. Still looking for Csection safe types of exercises I had the T cut. Hip to hip 4 y one up y down- T but looked like a Dr G medical examiner episode. Purchasing the band now before they sell out!

Yes, that set looks very similar to mine! And I do think those are ankle straps. It should come with some form of instructions. Look for videos on you tube as well. Some exercises won't use the handles or straps, which is ok since they are removable. Just try several and see what you like.

Do tor said with my injuries if it hurts don’t do it lol. So I’ll try different exercises with lowest weights work myself up. Can’t go over 30lb on the pull strength it’s my cut off pounds Doctors orders. So can use 2-30lbs then start off slowly. If this even helps one muscle that was injured we made progress!

Exercising by walking a lot has helped me regain some mobility went from a weak shuffle to now can fast walk to grab a toddler .

Lots are doing the weight loss to look good . I’m just doing it like other folks here (small amount of us ) who are doing it for health y after surgery physical therapy

Thankyou guys for helping! Someone on another group gave me 1 physical therapy band exercise Youtube video she used after abdominal surgery. So got a plan now to act on it...if the box would hurry up that is lol

I use these and right now, I've got the red set, which is the easiest.

I've tried the walmart kind with attached handles, but wasn't impressed when the tubing snapped.

Can you afford to have a couple of sessions with a personal trainer or physio who specialises in post surgery? I have also had abdominal surgery (but not for a baby) and I struggled to know what I should do. It sounds silly but there are different types of pain and I needed specialist help to work through what I could ignore and what I had to pay attention to! (I went the wrong way and injured myself lol)

    Very good point!!

I've been going to physio led pilates for my right hip and it has been very beneficial. She makes sure I'm doing the right things, and has recommended the bands I mentioned above ... we use them in the classes. :)

Given your medical history would you be able to get a referal to a physical therapist to help you with appropriate exercises? If bands are for you they will give you some Therabands and recommendations for a longer lasting set of bands.

    Best of luck.

My old insurance only covered birth y a short recovery time which Doctor fought to extend until they just dropped me. New insurance doesn’t cover physical therapy even if I could find a Doctor willing to take cash which many here will not. The new insurance I haven’t found anyone who will take it except birth control y a few clinics for birth control but not after surgery care. I fell in a insurance gap as big as the Grand Canyon! The only answer is to buy new insurance that’s out of my price range since surgeries allowed them to quote higher rates . Physical therapy if I found one willing to take cash quotes were very high.

Baby not allowed at gyms near me y no one will babysit him. I moved over an hour away from my family y friends to be at a NICU hospital with a surgery specialists. Hubby mom in her 70’s so baby got too big for her to watch alone. I asked the gym if her y baby could come with me ,but was told no until he’s older. My old town had a nursery would have allowed grandma to come with! They even had a couch area for people waiting on older spouses! Baby has car sickness so over 2-3hours of driving to go to that ones a 👎 nope.

Good news band arrived early! The video game for under the tree did not.

My last surgery was 2 1/2 yrs ago the Csection 2 years 9 months ago .Gave myself a long time to heal before exercise y dieting plus Doctor recommendation was wait 2years 3months to heal up before starting anything. I’m taking all exercises slowly y at low levels. So far my body is advancing nicely, but long way to go. I’m going to start off easiest exercise y 2lb band for a month or two or longer before trying 4lbs . Any exercise even low level is better than sitting on a couch 🛋.

Hard to get PT after Csection I feel every state y hospital in the USA should require it! Instead none even in the hospital no PT specialist. Here’s the hospital I was art’s attitude . https://sahealth.com/about/newsroom/six-essential-facts-about-c-sections

    Hugs to all

Luckily we can go to court change it to at least have 2nd or JR at the end. Started up to 70 reps with 2lb band just standing straight lift up then down slowly. Started with just this of course worked my way up to 70 took awhile.

20 laying down foot against wall half push up okay more like 1/3rd but still building muscles I lost.

Sticking with this awhile until body shows I can move up on either.

Maybe in a few months can move up to a 4lb band someday

A good ol' simple set of Therabands are a great start. They are the least expensive, most versatile, used by thousands of Physical Therapists and all types of fitness users, and usually come as a set of light medium and heavy. Can be gotten usually for under $20 for a set of three.
You tube Theraband exercises and look for videos by Vanessa B. to get a good idea of what you can do with them

    It’s now March update:
My mobility has improved so much I bought a jump rope .Now I can jumprope too without pain! Think it’s improved my scar tissue inside me a lot! I’m also able to leave the home alone without help!

I can only do 2 exercises with it.
Stand on it with 1 foot pull up maybe bend a little in the lift.
Feet against wall laying down use it to assist in pull ups.

I have lost 50lbs the baby turning 3yrs old (3yrs to loose it so much but 14-20lbs away from my goal weight now) .Eating healthier think I’m slowly getting the balance of calories sort of down pact
