Less Alcohol - JANUARY 2020- One Day at a Time
Replies

As usual, I am going to try for 16-20 AF days for the month.
I just made it to 16 for December.
Wednesday January 01 - 3 drinks
Thursday January 02 - 3 drinks
Friday January 03 - AF
Saturday January 04 - AF - Had to delay and delay and delay today, really wanted to have drinks...but I didn't.
Sunday January 05 - 3 drinks
Monday January 06 - AF
Tuesday January 07 - 3 drinks. Although I have skipped some Tuesdays in the past, it is my designated drink day. I felt off the rails today and know that I need to make some changes with jobs, because the Tuesdays are increasingly just too much for me. Tough to find another job at 59, but the stress is ridiculous. That first sip of alcohol was nicely numbing. I know intellectually that it is not the best way to decompress, but it certainly is surefire and quick.
Wednesday January 08 - AF
Thursday January 09 - 3 drinks - worked early morning until 8pm today, started thinking by 7pm of having a drink when I got home after a grueling day...and I did. I sure am not racking up many AF days this month so far! I know that I won't get rid of that 5 pound gain over the holidays (which took me 7 months to lose!) unless I stop the alcohol. Work in progress.
Friday January 10 - AF. Planned wine tomorrow evening with a friend.
Saturday January 11 - Wine and Brandy. The conversation flowed so easily as those of you who have imbibed in alcohol know how that goes. I was pretty good about having a water in between each drink, that made me feel as if I was "drinking less". Ready to get serious about racking up some AF days soon.
Running tally: 5AF days out of 11 days so far.10 -
January goal - Alcohol free until January 27th - exams are over and I have a concert that night
January 1 - Too many drinks from NYE
January 2 - AF
January 3 - AF
January 4 - AF
January 5 - AF
January 6 - AF
January 7 - AF
January 8 - AF
January 9 - AF
January 10 - AF
January 11 - AF - This one was harder than the others as I was with friends who were drinking wine while I helped one move!8 -
@forestdweller1.........I LOVE when you creep outta the wood work. Thanks so much for the big hug. And yes to all you stated. I certainly know that is true. Maybe I should make a reference in public that someone's "thing these days" is not to have wash board abs. 🤣4

wine_n_weights wrote: »11 days AF. Today was so hard - I really wanted a drink while I was cooking, which I often enjoy on the weekends. A few days this week were also tough when I realized I wanted one to deal with a bad day. I didn't like feeling like that - missing the drink in the second situation. I hope by continuing with this the entire month I'll become stronger about maybe choosing to have a drink for the "right " reason (the right one for me, I know we're all different in that).
Hang in there. None of us likes the feeling of the pull of alcohol when we are trying to cut back. I see you have weights in your user name. Think about how lovely you will feel the next day working out with your weights without the drag of alcohol in your system. 💪7 -
@dawnbgethealthy you will get back into your groove again with your AF days. Show us some more pretty stemware filled with your tasty mocktails. Yum yum5

Ok, just realized there was a full moon on Friday, so this explains urges beyond our control for days prior and after the moon. Phew.5

Goal- not to drink every single day. So tired of:
Feeling disgusted with my self
Puffy face
Hang overs
Making excuses
My goal for today is not to drink for a week. I know I can do it because I have many times before, then I inevitably slide right back into daily drinking again. I KNOW it's the reason I don't lose weight. I do Pilates every day and I don't overeat....it's the bottle of wine every night. Gotta stop. Thanks7 -
No alcohol so far in January..going to keep it that way!6

Goal :: limit to 4 days in January
Jan 01 - drank quite a bit on 1 Jan - wine and beer. 2+2+3 Units
Jan 02 - AF
Jan 03 - AF :: Fridays are challenging. Proud to skip. Compensated with overeating. Need to find better alternatives. Fridays are most tempting days for me to drink.
Jan 04 - AF :: Saturdays are easier than Fridays
Jan 05 - Drank :: 3 units and quickly followed up with food. Hard to stop drinking when I start. Its comparatively easier to turn down the first one.
Jan 6 - AF
Jan 7 - AF
Jan 8 - AF
Jan 9 - AF
Jan 10 - AF :: yay kept strong and did not drink on Friday. Friday I am super tempted to drink.
Jan 11 - Drank :: 3.25 units of alcohol. Red wine. Blew my calories and kind of gave up. Could have resisted but gave up easily. Was bummed out by not losing any weight and having blown calories for the day already. I regret it today realizing I have set myself back. Stopping after first glass is always an issue for me.
Tally- 3A / 8 AF

Managed to avoid wine last night even though the husband was chilling out with his sat evening drink. And tonight im feeling strong (did a replacement activity of meeting friend for an evening walk rather then a sun evening of chilling with a glass of red)
im on 10 AF / 2 A7 -
@RedDodgerAZ fair play on 11/11 - share your tips
@looneycatblue don’t beat yourself up by giving in one evening. Its about what you do most evenings that counts. Get back on track today.

We talked about significant others. Well mine texted this to his friends last night.0

Nevermind previous post, as I am having technical difficulties.2

6 Af days so far. Great job to everyone checking in, even if everything hasn’t gone 100% according to plan. You’re doing the work and getting stronger everyday!10
-
7 days AF! Replaced with some sparkling water/kombucha mocktails in pretty glasses and/or a late night cup of joe.
It's a new week ahead and I'm ready!
Keep it up everyone!7 -
Day 12 AF. Dry January hasn't been too difficult so far!6
-
HAPPY MONDAY! It's a new week and I can't wait to get started
12 Days AF and today WILL be number 13!
I had quite a few cravings this weekend, especially while watching TV when everyone seemed to constantly have a whisky, a beer or a wine in their hand
However, I'm so motivated at the moment that I didn't even come close to folding. My challenge, I know, will be in a few weeks, or whatever, when I do have a few drinks and I need to not back slide into drinking every day.
Have a wonderful week everyone and good luck with ALL of your goals large or small.

January 12th - AF
Continuing to stay away from my triggers and not having any alcohol in the house really helps!7 -
Strangely I have a load of alcohol in the house which I don't have a problem not drinking, it's when I'm eating elsewhere that I end up having a drink! But it is usually just one with a meal rather than anything more than that at least.
Currently on 6AF days so far this month but should make it through to at least Saturday before temptation strikes again.10 -

January accountability ~ 12
No Alcohol: 10 days
Alcohol: 2 days (5 drinks)
Goal: AF days 3 per week / 12 per month
DH went DRY for January which is a real challenge for him as well … and I’m trying to be supportive.
You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine. - John C. Maxwell
Including December in my weekly view.
Dec 30 - 2 glasses wine
Dec 31 - AF
Jan 1 - AF
Jan 2 - AF
Jan 3 - AF
Jan 4 - AF
Jan 5 - AF
6 AF days out of 7 this week!!!
Jan 6 - AF
Jan 7 - AF
Jan 8 - AF
Jan 9 - AF Virgin Bloody Mary & water at happy hour. Water at Bunco!
Jan 10 - 2 glasses wine
Jan 11 - AF
Jan 12 - 3 glasses wine … DH & I visiting my sister. They opened 2 bottles of wine.
5 AF days out of 7 this week.
I should have stopped at 1 or 2 glasses but did not. DH drank most of the wine resolving not to go back for another glass when I stopped but then polished off the open bottle by himself and then had 2 bourbon & cokes at home afterward.
Other than having 1 more glass last night than I should have I'm really hitting & exceeding my personal goal for the month! Goal: AF days 3 per week / 12 per month
Beck Diet Solutions ... same for learning to turn down drinks!
Monday Motivation: If you’ve made a resolution to lose weight, remember that learning to diet is like learning to play the piano. You start out with easier skills/pieces, practice them, get better and better at them, and then move on to harder ones. If you were learning to play the piano, you would never think that hitting a wrong note was an indication that you couldn’t do it or that you should give up; you would simply accept it as part of the learning process. Dieting is no different!11 -
Old habit: 1-4 drinks/evening.
Goal: Ease into only drinking on weekends! Consistantly be AF 5 days a week.
Jan 5- 2 drinks
Jan 6- 1 drink
Jan 7- AF 😁
Jan 8- AF 😁
Jan 9- AF 😁
Jan 10- None work night! 4 drinks
Jan 11- AF
Jan 12- 1 drink6 -
I had one, just one glass of wine last night and I unintentionally nursed it as I was folding laundry and doing other housework.12

Oh I'm really jealous that you can do that! If it's in my house (alcohol, snacks, whatever) I'll consume it. So while I can't have cookies in my house when I'm not eating cookies, I can't keep alcohol in it when I'm not drinking. Hopefully I can get to that point but i"m just not there yet8
