Fake cocktails are starting to really work for me. Had a hard day at work and made myself a hard drink of nice tonic water, mint and lemon and ice. You wouldnt even notice the lack of gin...7

Goal :: limit to 4 days in January
Jan 01 - drank quite a bit on 1 Jan - wine and beer. 2+2+3 Units
Jan 02 - AF
Jan 03 - AF :: Fridays are challenging. Proud to skip. Compensated with overeating. Need to find better alternatives. Fridays are most tempting days for me to drink.
Jan 04 - AF :: Saturdays are easier than Fridays
Jan 05 - Drank :: 3 units and quickly followed up with food. Hard to stop drinking when I start. Its comparatively easier to turn down the first one.
Jan 6 - AF
Jan 7 - AF
Jan 8 - AF
Jan 9 - AF
Jan 10 - AF :: yay kept strong and did not drink on Friday. Friday I am super tempted to drink.
Jan 11 - Drank :: 3.25 units of alcohol. Red wine. Blew my calories and kind of gave up. Could have resisted but gave up easily. Was bummed out by not losing any weight and having blown calories for the day already. I regret it today realizing I have set myself back. Stopping after first glass is always an issue for me.

Week 1 total: 21.5
Week 2 so far: 12
Did well limiting myself to 2 a day, only with dinner. Finding it really helps since when I feel full, I don't want to drink more. Starting to think the drinking on an empty stomach does a number on my blood sugar, making me want more. Well, at least I am on track to hit 14 for week 2, better than 21. 5 the week before. As long as I keep trending towards less, I am happy.
I caught up with the posts from past few days. Really impressed and motivated by how great you guys are all doing!!!!

Hi I also am catching up on the threads and inspired by your stories
12 days so far
8 AF...4 days not..most were wine..my favorite..now drinking red instead of my love which is chardonnay. My goal was to cut back at home during week and it looks like I am doing that..kinda feel I could be doing better...I think the 4 on Sat was a little much.
1/5 Sun 1 out
1/10 Fri 2 home
1/11 Sat 4 out

OMG me too! I have 3 cases of wine , untouched, at home, but I always seem to order a glass when at a restaurant! Good job keeping it to just one. I do the same.4 -
I wanted a cognac after my 1 glass of wine last night, but didnβt have it. Wanted a drink tonight but didnβt. I wonder if my approaching TOM has anything to do with wanting more alcohol? I can tell you that Iβm inhaling food thatβs not nailed down, which usually happens!!!! I cannot stop being hungry! Well, 7/13 days AF so far. Goal this week is to stay AF and only have one each weekend night.3

As usual, I am going to try for 16-20 AF days for the month.
I just made it to 16 for December.
Wednesday January 01 - 3 drinks
Thursday January 02 - 3 drinks
Friday January 03 - AF
Saturday January 04 - AF - Had to delay and delay and delay today, really wanted to have drinks...but I didn't.
Sunday January 05 - 3 drinks
Monday January 06 - AF
Tuesday January 07 - 3 drinks. Although I have skipped some Tuesdays in the past, it is my designated drink day. I felt off the rails today and know that I need to make some changes with jobs, because the Tuesdays are increasingly just too much for me. Tough to find another job at 59, but the stress is ridiculous. That first sip of alcohol was nicely numbing. I know intellectually that it is not the best way to decompress, but it certainly is surefire and quick.
Wednesday January 08 - AF
Thursday January 09 - 3 drinks - worked early morning until 8pm today, started thinking by 7pm of having a drink when I got home after a grueling day...and I did. I sure am not racking up many AF days this month so far! I know that I won't get rid of that 5 pound gain over the holidays (which took me 7 months to lose!) unless I stop the alcohol. Work in progress.
Friday January 10 - AF. Planned wine tomorrow evening with a friend.
Saturday January 11 - Wine and Brandy. The conversation flowed so easily as those of you who have imbibed in alcohol know how that goes. I was pretty good about having a water in between each drink, that made me feel as if I was "drinking less". Ready to get serious about racking up some AF days soon.

Well, my newest arsenal. I still have to find the Brandy flavour, since that is one of my weaknesses with booze, the taste.

2 biscotti is only 60 calories.
Having cocoa with rum extract today after work. My long days got switched this week, so I was late home last night and up extremely early for today's jobs. The cocoa is going down lovely. It has been minus 20 degrees here!!!
Can't say that I kwon't sucumb to a Brandy in the bathtub with HGTV on and the TV pulled up nice and close to the bathtub. I did let my car run for like 20 minutes this morning before leaving for work. A couple more days of that, but I am working from home tomorrow.
This is the Cocoa that I made with the orange extract - had it on my porch with the little heater on when it was much warmer, like 0 (Celsius, so 32F). Lovely.

@dawnbgethealthy that cocoa with the candy cane looks sooooooooo relaxing, thanks for giving us a glimpse into your very chilly world. Looks as if we are going to get some of that artic blast in the next few days also.
I for one know your doing so much better than last year when you would have tallies of "4" rather than the "3" for any particular day.
Follow your own path and you already know we are not a dry only thread.π5 -
A stupid thought ran through my head yesterday late afternoon. I had accomplished a goal for a client that she was not expecting yesterday.
Well, being I can not get outdoors to do garden work this time of year ( my reward for all things good). I thought...wow, I should go into town and have a chocolate expresso martini because I am so proud to have helped her out today. Quickly that devil got knocked off my left shoulder by a slingshot hit from the angel on my right shoulder.
YOU KNOW YOU WON'T STOP AT ONE. YOU DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. HOW WILL YOU GET HOME? YOU WILL FEEL LIKE CRAP IN THE MORNING.
Gawd....for a little angel she sure does scream loud. Good thing, went home no booze.π
