This discussion was created from replies split from: Cardiometabolic diet finally broke my plateau.
It is a closed topic, my intention wasn't to continue this part of the discussion but to get the OP back on topic.
I do understand that conversations around how people feel about other's reactions is going to come up and in this instance a poster expressed feeling people were angry (which can easily lead to people not feeling safe to participate), there was discussion on how the use of the disagree button is not intended to indicate people are angry or offended but rather disagree with a statement and I feel a generally productive conversation was had addressing the poster's feelings and also reinforcing the main point of the thread and noting positive aspects of the poster's approach.
So for context to the original thread I am keeping this "split" viewable but closed.
Thanks all,
Alex (@Alex)

Why do you think people are angry?5

Good for you man! Why can't people just say congratulations? Beats me.6

Why do you think people are angry?
My guess (and I've experienced this before) is some people believe they have all the answers and know it all. Other people are not open to other point of views. We should all be careful where we get our information from and how we share it. And... be supportive. There is a way to share your views without making the person asking the question regret sharing.
On a positive note...congratulations that you and your DR have a good working relationship and you were able to overcome your plateau. I hope you meet your goal.

Let me clarify. I do not perceive any anger in any of the posts. Thus, my question to the OP was asking why he/she was perceiving people to be angry. My suspicion is that it is because he or she received a few disagrees, and although I did not give any of them, I think the explanation someone else gave for that is likely true, and has 0 to do with anger.
That people perceive any mild disagreement as "anger" is IMO a serious difficulty with communication.15 -

Couldn't agree with you more. You go to Reddit and people will congratulate you on your accomplishment. On here, you get a wall of text telling you how wrong you are. Then... to invalidate them even further by telling them they have serious difficulty with communication.7 -

Are you reading a different thread?
What's the wall of text telling OP that he or she was wrong?
Here are the posts as I understand them:
(1) mine -- links to explain the diet since I don't think it's a name most are familiar with, and me saying it sounded like a healthy way of eating, similar to how one eating a generally healthy diet would likely be eating. (That was intended to be a good thing.)
(2) OP saying how it was different from how he or she had been eating.
(3) Someone making a short comment about how no foods are inherently bad for weight loss and then saying "I’m glad you have found a diet that’s appropriate for your medical needs."
(4) Someone making a short comment about how food choice matters for satiety, and then adding: "Overall, it' looks like a diet based on whole foods. So it's pretty healthy. Glad it's working."
(5) Someone correcting the OP's misunderstanding of simple vs. complex carbs, and then adding: "Eating carb heavy foods with a decent amount of fiber is very helpful both for regulating blood sugar and for satiety. Eating any foods that are nutrient dense is good for overall health."
(6) Someone saying that they had hugged OP, because the mistake about simple vs. complex carbs would likely garner some disagrees.
(7) OP suggesting that posting about what had worked for him/her had made some angry. (I'm still wondering what this anger is supposed to be, as I don't see it in any of the above posts, and the reason suggested for the disagrees has nothing to do with anger.)
(8) Me asking OP why he/she thinks people are angry.
(9) A post noting that (3) and (4) are both right.
(10) Odd comment unrelated to the prior posts complaining that people did not say congratulations (when in fact the posts were generally positive and none were negative).
(11) Post saying she doubts anyone is angry.
(12) Me agreeing with (9) but saying that satiety could be more complicated than (4) suggests, and proposing a possible reason why the diet change might have helped end the plateau.
(13) Post misunderstanding mine to be wondering why people are angry, vs. asking why OP imagines they are angry, and then negatively complaining about others on the thread or on MFP (likely related to a different thread). Then (like others before) a congratulations to OP.
(14) Me clarifying that I don't think anyone is angry.
(15) Post negatively complaining about MFP and trying to make OP feel like people are against him/her (as I interpret it).
(16) Question seeking clarification about the statements in (4).
So I see only a few negative posts dragging this thread down and trying to attack other posters, and ironically they are the ones accusing others of being negative.
Anyway, as I said originally, OP, sounds like your diet -- even if I haven't heard that name before -- is a sensible, healthy way of eating.14 -
I ment the disagree not angry button I honestly didnt think my victory post would be taken as anything else I'm sorry I miss wrote anything I guess I just get my feelings hurt to easy to take a chance posting

I don't think anyone was being negative. Like I said, I'm glad you found a way of eating that sounds healthy and works for you, and I'm also glad you didn't think anyone seemed angry!1 -

I, for one, am very pleased that you posted, especially since you have achieved such good results from eating in a way that promotes general health and can be easily maintained (assuming you like the food you are eating). That to me is a double win. Congratulations on finding a good path!3 -
The OP later clarified that she was referring to Disagree flags, and did not actually mean angry. So the post referring to a communication issue was in fact correct.
I didn't find this community inviting when I joined 6 years ago. However, I soon realized I had to be careful and fact-based about my assertions, because I would be challenged otherwise. I am grateful for this community for helping me realize when I had beliefs that were actually false food myths, and to break free of the prison of false food myths.
The opening post could be perceived as rather "One True Way", in other words, only the specific Cardiometabolic diet itself was responsible for breaking her plateau. I thought posters were rather gentle in pointing out this was not necessarily the case.
Generally, forum regulars are happy when someone has found a way of eating that works for them, but want to point out that that there are many ways to achieve a calorie deficit, and that satiety is very individual - what works for one person won't necessarily work for another. For example, we get a lot of people who have formed the belief from social media that keto is the only way to lose weight, and we'd be doing them a disservice to not point out that this is incorrect.
The OP was probably looking for congratulations and I imagine she was bummed to not get them. Perhaps she'd have better luck in the Success Stories forum. Here we tend to over-analyze, be pedantic, and be quite concerned with semantics. This results with food for the brain rather than pats on the back. So for those who find knowledge supportive, this forum is indeed very supportive.
I'd encourage anyone who is new to any forum to spend time reading posts and getting acclimated to the culture before posting.10
