How often should you weigh yourself?

Daily, and here's why. Back when I was really on-task with my fitness, I actually made a spreadsheet with a scatter chart of my daily weight. It was all over the place. I might be up or down as much as four and a half pounds from one day to the next. This may sound like a good reason NOT to weigh daily, but what if you weigh on a Monday and it's one of those low days. Then you weight the next Monday and it's one of those high days?. You would get a completely wrong (and depressing) picture of your actual progress. The idea is to keep a running average, either on paper or in your head and don't let your day to day weight freak you out.1
