Anyone in here doing an IF plan? If so, which one and any success yet?

Definitely! I practice 8hr eating 16hr fast...I am having serious results! Not even 2 weeks...6 pds!!!😱 Loving it!!!16

I do a 24 hour fast once a week...trying to build up to do doing 2 a week. It has really helped me in ways other than weight loss, like understanding what real hunger feels like, self control, mental clarity, etc. I find that I eat reduced calories on those 2 days (essentially skipping dinner and then the following breakfast), but nothing crazy.3

That’s amazing! Good job! Do you still calorie restrict on your non fast 8 hour window? Or just eat whatever you want?2 -

I have tried to do that 8/16 but I'm not consistent maybe I should try a different IF.1 -
I do both. 8:16 fasting and 24 fast. I like both and my body has adapted. I've had good results. I'm trying my first 36 hour fast (lunch to dinner the following day).3

Intermittent Fasting is just a way that some people find useful to help control caloric intake.
Having said that, you *do* still have to watch what you eat. Unfortunately, "eat whatever you want" is usually a recipe for disaster, because it's waaaaay too easy to vastly overeat in an 8 hour window of time.20 -
I've been doing 16:8 for seven months, combined with calorie counting/logging. I do 16:8 (or 17:7) six days a week or so, with a relaxed day on an as needed basis, when things come up that make it inconvenient to fast. I'm very happy with the approach, not just the results (65 lbs lost) but also how it's helped reshape my relationship with food and my self discipline. Honestly, this diet was not my first rodeo but it's the first that's worked for more than a month or two and it seems to still be going strong - I don't feel like I'm fighting to hang on or wishing that I could be off the diet for a day/month/forever. I'm really pretty happy with IF & how it lends structure to my food day, and anticipate staying on it indefinitely, even after I've gotten to whatever my maintenance weight is going to be.17

I do it because it's how I like to eat. I never eat after about 4 pm and have breakfast the next day about 10am so a fast of about 18 hours in 24.
I just prefer eating this way - much like a lot of Europe my main meal can be anything from 1-4pm . If I eat a meal in the evening it sits really heavy in my belly. If I get a growly stomach late at night I'll have a pear or some air popcorn, something light.
I have eaten this way for years now and it suits me as I can have a great big meal and dessert which really satisfies. I don't want a snack as my brain and body have had their fill

Intermediate fasting here, Eat one day and will not eat the next day. 3 weeks, 14.5 pounds down. I also cut all sugars, and I would say 90% or carbs out on the days that I eat. Started at 297, so I have weight I can lose. I am always dehydrated, so this actually works well, as the day that I am not eating I am consistently drinking water. I am hoping that by the end of this year to be 220 pounds (lower would be good, lol) at 6 foot 1 inches I am not grossly overweight, but I am a big man6

I track my calories but am eating more than I usually do in a "diet" 1700-1800 a day! I am 5'4 and 155pds...49 yrs...I am eating more fats also...so really I don't even feel like I am dieting 😁5

I started September 17th. Every single day I do at least 16:8. I have gone as much as 22 hours. It has helped me tremendously. Doesn't matter where I am or who's eating around me I know after 12 I'm cool. I have lost over 50 pounds since. My HBP is lower and across the board I am healthier. Also it's sustainable. I love it I am just not disciplined enough to try it 2-3 days a week. Every day is a must for me.
PS I eat pretty much the same way. I am going to say "Keto Friendly" because I do eat some carbs (mostly Delightful lite bread because of the potassium). Typically I will eat at 12 or after then dinner and thats it. I try to shut down by 5 or 6pm most nights. My exercise is great on an empty stomach. I spin daily (I have a Peloton). Good luck!8 -

I've been doing 16:8 with the MFP recommended caloric intake for a while. For me, it's just more satisfying to eat two bigger meals than three small ones. Good luck!7

Usually there's a plethora of folks on here enforcing "Calories In / Calories Out" and that's all that matters, etc., etc. Truth be told I do both a 16:8 fast, eating only between 10am and 6pm, AND a 5:2 fast where I eat 800 calories or less on two non-consecutive days a week. This (somehow) aided me in losing the last 20+ pounds of my 55 lb. weight loss after my weight loss had stalled for quite some time.6

Intermittent fasting isn't a contrast to CICO, it's just another way to make it work. Some people find it easier to meet their calorie goals if they're limiting the number of hours a day they're eating. But if you're losing weight while doing IF, it's because you've found a way to consistently reach a calorie deficit.24 -

I eat a little below my TDEE - haven't started exercising - the gym though takes my dues every month1 -
I’ve lost 70lbs since June 3rd. I do a few different things but consistently practice IF. I still have about 25-30 to go minimum.6

I suppose I have accidentally been doing IF this week, if wanting to sleep 15 more minutes and skipping breakfast counts... (Yes, I know that technically there’s no way to “skip breakfast”). I have been a long time morning meal before work eater because I like “breakfast” type food.
I was actually surprised to find that not eating before work has decreased my mid-morning hunger. Who knows if that’s a coincidence/fluke that will change or if it’s going to be consistent. TBH, I’ve made no attempt to test or rule out other factors for this change and probably won’t. I’ve also noticed the desire for afternoon binge snacking is gone. Again, haven’t done any real experimenting to see if the “IF” has anything to do with it or not. I’m leaning toward the slightly bigger lunch as the reason for that. Snacking after dinner has never been an issue for me anyway.
So far, I’m finding it easier to hit a calorie target this way.
Honestly though, if I started feeling hungry in the mornings, I’d probably not bother making any efforts to stick it out to see if I get used to it. I’d just go back to my morning oatmeal.
No form of IF is magic though. ANY diet that works to produce actual fat loss (water weight isn’t the same thing) works because you were in a calorie deficit.3 -

I'm on my third day of fasting 16/8 and it seems very doable. My food is generally unprocessed and no refined carbs, about 50% of my diet is healthy fats. I hiked 10miles fasted today and felt amazing. I'm hoping to see improvements in my mental health and lose the last few pounds of body fat I dont need 👍1

Well I originally wanted to do 16:8 when I started mid January so I try to keep it at Atleast 16:8 but due to schedule especially during work hours it typically ends up being longer fasting times like 18:6 or sometimes longer even, I haven’t lost any additional weight per week yet adding in IF. Just been the same amount weekly I was losing prior dieting and exercising without IF. But going to try it about two more weeks before just going back to regular diet and exercise.
Are you exercising and calorie restricting too?

Are you stating that with IF it's possible to eat in a surplus and lose weight.....cuz when that happens....ya, people are going to call that out.

I started IF in Jan of this year. I do 18:6, 1500 cal, low carb and regular exercise. I’ve lost 19 lbs as of this morning.3

I do 20:4 as i find its the easiest way to lose weight2
