Trying to lose weight

I just started logging food again, I’m hoping to follow through and lose the weight this time. I’m feeling pretty discouraged about how heavy I am.

You can do it. Be very kind to yourself. Don't do anything drastic. Do not quit for any reason.5

Not too many people here started as heavy as I did. Even less started as heavy as I did with decades of a failed weight loss attempts.
I changed my approach. I decided not to restrict any food that I could safely moderate. I stopped trying to lose weight and started trying to get through the day in front of me inside a calorie deficit while happy doing it. It hasn't actually worked on either or both efforts everyday but it has a good deal of the time.
I think of it as allowing weight loss to happen instead of trying to make it/force it. Mostly that has meant getting out of my own way.9 -

battling the mind that wants to give every excuse in the book is 1/2 the problem. If you are really wanting this, there is no doubt you can succeed. I'm 55, and this time last year I was 96 lbs heavier and had health issues starring me in the face. As @NovusDies says, DON'T QUIT. Be very strict with calorie counting, weigh everything on a food scale and exercise for health & fitness. Take it one day at a time, don't get overwhelmed by the big picture.3
