I declined the regional treat for Mardi Gras offered at the office today. In Sweden it’s traditionally a large cardamom bun with almond paste and whipped cream. I decided the store-bought kind isn’t tasty enough and passed. Maybe I’ll have a mini home-made one at my parents’ house at a later date, maybe not.

*sigh* me too - the soft spot for men in kilts, that is. Not to mention the blousey, laced shirts and tunics that usually go with them.......lol
I mentioned it in one of my groups, but I had a nice NSV yesterday evening: I saw a dress in the store that I liked, and thought, since there was a sale, that I'd be daring and try on the 22W. Except I ended up needing to go back and get the 20W because the 22W was too baggy in the front! The 20W was just a bit snugger than I'd usually wear, but still looked good. This is for someone who started out in a 30W! Of course, I know that it was the style of dress, but it was still nice!
The day I get into an 18W will be huge for me - that size was always my pipe dream, something that I was wistful about but never thought possible - its a bit mind numbing to realize that I'm actually getting pretty close to that goal.29 -

You're pretty jacked for a regular guy.14 -
I was able to take my wedding ring off today for the first time in 6 years. ( I put it right back on though).19

I went to Club Fitness today, where they have a state-of-the-art InBody270 Body Analysis machine. I was gauged via 4-point electrostatic resistance tests to have, , , wait for it, , , SEVENTEEN PERCENT BODYFAT, , , 17% !!! That and although my BMI is 28.1, (overweight) my muscle mass percentage is 124% of normal.18

Sometimes I joke about how when I flex my arm muscles they droop and make a sad trombone noise like in cartoons. You know.
Usually my husband feels my arm and says I am not that bad, but yesterday he grabbed my arm and interrupted himself to say, "actually wow, your arms are like steel."
I have been working hard at the gym so it's nice it seems to be paying off even a little.27 -
I just posted this on my feed. I had to have my mammogram yesterday and actually fit in a small gown! I commented to the technician about it and she asked how much weight I'd lost from my last one. When I told her she said the radiologist would think there's a mix-up comparing to my old films. Kind of sad since it's the one place I wish hadn't changed but I thought it was funny!17

for me, losing some of the bust area made me very happy! lol6 -

Totally resisted the siren call of pancakes, bacon, hashbrowns, and eggs cooked in basically lard the other day from a breakfast chain restaurant near me. Opted for a home-made egg white scramble with turkey sausage and an apple. The call was quite strong, I'm still feeling pretty proud from that!25

Three days now I have resisted sweets in the office! I don't usually even want them but will grab something as I'm walking around just because it's there, for me it's all about mindfulness and paying attention to what I'm eating and not just eating out if boredom or convenience.18

Someone bought a box of donuts for the office and I grabbed my rolls of lard on my stomach reminding myself I'm so close to goal, walk away!!! I walked away so fast they didn't even get to open it in my sight. It's so easy to "treat" myself with freebies shared daily. The real treat though long term is good health. I need to think long term rather than short term sugar high. Is this food I love going to love me back?22

Yes, now I'm nearly back to GW, the difference between my rib cage and my bust is 1.5 - 2", depending on whatever. I'd never thought I'd be a flapper, and there's still a bit too much at the back to properly do that, but yes.
And congrats on the small gown (and possibly confusing technicians in the best possible way)!!!8 -
Just got back fro hospital where I had an eximination
The biggest problem was my heart monitor It kept bleeping as in full rest my HR sometimes goes below 40 and well that machine thought it not good.
Also noted It was hard to find good vein - they are sunken in between my finger bones
Nurse was saying I was so healthy all over that the equipment could not cope it it anymore. She also suspected my blood pressure would low just on looking at me (she was right).
She mentioned they do not often get patients that are in such good physical shape. I am actually proud of that :-)27 -

Awesome job! I just cooked for the homeless and was in charge of refried beans one night. The head cook kept dumping beef fat in it, grossed me out as he ruined perfectly good beans but it made it easy not to eat! At my gym there's about 6 restaurants and the smell of grease is disgusting when I get there but after a hardcore workout it smells pretty good when I'm leaving. Out of all the restaurants the one I'd be least likely to eat at is a waffle house but I stare longingly at it craving a Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. Luckily I discovered it's closed when I leave!14 -
I dumbbell bench pressed 90 pounds yesterday. I never thought I would be strong enough.19

A couple weeks ago, I posted here that my wrists were finally small enough to get my FitBit on the last hole of the large wrist band and I should find the smaller one....well, the smaller one must have not made the move and I now have to buy a smaller band because this one is about to be too big!14

Thanks!! 😄 It's so interesting to me how my tastes change so rapidly during this health journey. When I am not focused or I am struggling, all that lard and fat and greasy foods look so appealing and it takes so much of it to satisfy me and it's never gross. But it's like, only after just a few days or a week or so of clean eating, even the smell makes me gag! Much less even eating any of it!! lol about your waffle house comment, one of my saving graces in my new city I'm living in is that there are no food places that I drive by on my way to work. Can't heed the call when it's not even there! Keep up your great workouts! 💪10 -
We went out for a celebratory lunch with the office to an Italian place. After a lot of consideration I ordered pizza like most others. It was amazing. However I only ate half and boxed the rest up to take home with me. I wasn’t even embarrassed about it (taking leftovers from a restaurant is uncommon here).
I do however regret not limiting the pre-meal focaccia better. An opportunity for next time!22 -
Someone who hadn't seen me in a few weeks said I lost a lot of weight. It's just finally beginning to show.21

Hello again to all of you great folks! Recovery is slow but steady, and my physical therapy exercises are advanced enough to feel like proper exercise (Soon, the gym and I will become reacquainted...soooooon....)
Two NSV's:
I'm approved to use crutches instead of a walker! I'm practically flying down the hallways now
This one is a bit odd, but I'll do my best to explain. I realized this morning that I feel more at peace than I have in a long time. In mulling it over, it came to me that during all of the challenges I've dealt with during the past few weeks, not a single one of them has been because of, or about, my weight. For so long, my life was a series of anxious questions: "Will it fit? Will I fit? Can I get up/down/through there?". I'm still obese, but apparently I'm now at a functional obesity.38 -
I still have 4 unopened boxes of girl scout cookies...
Normally, I would addictingly eat the whole box of thin mints in a sitting - knowing the whole time I won't feel well after.19 -
We went on a short holiday to the beach and two things:
I was able to purchase a bathing suit off the rack - no more bike shorts and T Shirts for me!
Walking up the steep dunes coming home from the beach, I made it to the top first, only slightly out of breath!20 -
Two recently:
1. Coworkers mentioning me "the gym must be working" because I'm "looking bigger".
2. Hit a 1RM deadlift PR of 330 pounds last week.14 -
I feel like I always make these way longer than they need to be
Yesterday, I was treating myself to clothes shopping because I just got my tax return, and I wanted some new shirts. I'm almost 15 weeks pregnant and I've taken a little bit of a hit to my self esteem because none of my clothes are fitting me right, and I'm at that in between where I don't quite look pregnant, more like I'm just getting chubby.
I don't have a lot of "pretty" clothes, mostly just graphic t-shirts, and I wanted something nice and flowy that I could feel confident in as my belly grows and then continue to wear after I have my baby.
As I was rifling through the clearance rack, an employee walked up to me and said, "Oh, honey, that's the plus size section! Here, let me show you the smaller sizes."
It literally made my day, especially since the previous store that I visited I nearly left the fitting room in tears. It was kind of shocking to hear that someone thought that I was small. I remember when I had to shop in plus sizes.26 -
Today I threw away the ice cream and pizza. I had been doing really well, then we had mom's birthday at my house and I got stuck with the leftovers. The last 3 days have been rough as a result, so this morning I threw it all away. I gotta be honest, pitching that pizza was so hard. But I'm happy I did it.21

My first post. I was at a friends house last night for our monthly game night. Wearing my skinny jeans that actually look pretty good now (size smaller than 6 months ago) and people were commenting on my weight loss! Yay - so at least its finally showing. And when they wanted the scoop on what I was doing ....ie the big "secret", they looked shocked and disappointed when I said - It's simple math- "calories in/calories out"! I told them that I log every bite, cocktail, etc and try to burn 300-400 calories a day in a workout to be able to enjoy it all. No one wants to hear the boring, mathy, work part.25
