I bought frozen avocado today and I’m going to use it tomorrow. I’ve logged it in my diary however, it’s not showing up any monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fat content only fat in general. Is there a reason? I thought avocado had monounsaturated in it?

You found an incomplete entry. Most entries in the database are user entered, and many people who use MFP are pretty much just worried about calories and maybe the general macros.

You should be able to find a more complete entry if you are concerned about those details, or you can create your own entry using the USDA published info.

Okay I scanned the barcode of the packet and everything matches from calories to macros it just doesn’t tell you about the mono or poly fats

Scanning just reads the name of the product and then searches the database just as if you typed the name into the search bar. It doesn't actually read the nutrition info off the package.

You can add a new item if the package lists that info. After scanning, select find a better match, and then add/new entry (wording not exact, using my memory).

If the package doesn't have that info, you can check their website, contact the manufacturer, or figure it out yourself based on the USDA info.

Does the package label state the lipid breakdown into PUFA and MUFAs? Most labels I see don't. It's not the fault of the user who created the entry if the manufacturer doesn't provide the info.

How important to you is it to have the PUFA/MUFA breakdown? You could use an entry for raw avocado instead of the brand name of the frozen avocado.

Can you tell us how you enjoyed the frozen avocado? I read many ppl say it tastes awful and nothing like regular fresh avocado. I’d be interested to hear your opinion.

I don’t like it. It does taste horrible really salty and not enjoyable at all! At least I’ve tried it but I think I will stick to fresh avocado from now on

Thanks! I think it’s the preservative they use. Shame as the concept is so good.... no waste!
