I’ve come down with the flu the last couple days so I think *some* of that one-week loss is from dehydration; next Friday’s weigh-in will tell. Starting to feel better thank goodness (everyone keeps saying the same coronavirus joke to me), but will be taking it easy the next few days til I’m back to 100%.

February 08: 192.0 I started my new plan in order to figure out what is going on with my glucose numbers. Watching calories more than carbs this time (glucose has been running too low!). Today and yesterday found my glucose too high so I will continue to tweak to see if I can come up with a good weight loss plan without hurting my T2D efforts. I am down 0.1 from yesterday which I will call a normal fluctuation.
February 15: 194.8 Clearly my Valentine’s Day was wonderful and full of food and candy-filled surprises. Back at it today.
February 22: 195.0 My weight went up this past week after travel and more glucose problems. At a snail’s pace, it is slowly coming back down over the past 2 days. I hope next week’s weight will be even better!
February 29: 198.6 A 3 lb gain overnight. ½ of a restaurant meal. Good calorie count. Good extra exercise. But carbs hate me. Back to the grind again today!

Hi CaliMom,
I am so sorry to get this message to you so late, I could see the posts but was having trouble logging in. I feel your pain.
Whenever you cut calories, your body adapts by finding ways to meet those calorie deficits. Lowering temperature, slowing heart-rate, etc, making it exceedingly difficult to continue losing. You have to change it up.
The tricks are intermittent fasting, de-stressing and changing up your routine. (Workouts, walks, (fasting appears not to have the same negative effect on metabolism as cutting calories without fasting) This will make it easier to keep the weight off too. Otherwise, when you get to your goal, your metabolism will be so low from your body trying to keep your "set point", that it will be virtually impossible to keep it off.
Change it up. Every week I think of it as a one-week race and I do different things to win each week so my body can't adapt fast enough to hold onto the weight. (You don't have to change things up every week but certainly when you hit a plateau).
The Obesity Code, by Jason Fung is a life-changing book.
Keep the faith, the information you need is a library, barnes n noble or amazon order away. I believe in you.

February 15: 194.8 Clearly my Valentine’s Day was wonderful and full of food and candy-filled surprises. Back at it today.
February 22: 195.0 My weight went up this past week after travel and more glucose problems. At a snail’s pace, it is slowly coming back down over the past 2 days. I hope next week’s weight will be even better!
February 29: 198.6 A 3 lb gain overnight. ½ of a restaurant meal. Good calorie count. Good extra exercise. But carbs hate me. Back to the grind again today!

So after a few weeks of rapid weight loss (at one non-weigh in day I got as low as 130.5) I think the COVID19 lifestyle is impacting further weight loss. We are not (yet) having to shelter in place, so I am keeping up with my outdoor runs and cross training via streaming workouts online, but just the decrease in movement in the rest of my life is catching up with me. That and constant proximity to my refrigerator.
Maybe I should up my mileage while I can.

March 22: 202.0 ugg. Ingredients are getting hard to find in this tiny one store town. I went about 100 miles from here to a city that has 3 different grocery stores (including Walmart) last Monday but it was just as bad due to the higher population. My freezer is pretty full, but the sides are the challenge without getting into too many carbs. Okay, keeping my chin up. This too shall pass.
