Trouble with Online Coaching

Hi all! I’m brand new here *waves*
I’m in relatively good shape and have been consistently working out a minimum of 3x a week for the last 5 years. My biggest challenge, like so many people, is hitting a wall when I hit a certain weight.
Last week, a childhood friend (who’s also a personal trainer) reached out & asked if I’d be interested in being a case study for his online coaching program. I was totally down so I agreed. However, I did tell him that I had no issues with my current routine: I work out 3x a week and do flexible calorie counting. I’ve done research on counting and I’ve pretty much perfected it. I burn around 14,000 calories a week and I try to eat about 10,500 calories a week to lose one pound.
My challenge is usually when I hit 155lbs. I feel so comfortable at that weight that I find it hard to readjust my calories to continue the weight loss. I let him know this. I also let him know that I’d like to try and get to 150lbs (I’m currently at 158lbs) but I’m not in a rush.
He emailed me and said he recommends that I eat 2,000 calories per day and work out 7x a week - and burn about 500 cals per workout.
I had no idea how to reply. I have a demanding full time job and I love relaxing on my days off from the gym. I also definitely do not want to eat 2,000 cals per day. I allot my calories based on what I’m doing that day, which is why I love flexible counting. I didn’t know how to reply without sounding like a whiner so I haven’t responded at all.
Has anyone ever dealt with this? 🥺

Working out every day and eating like that?! I'm not sure he is in the right business... because that doesnt sound sustainable to me. Everyone needs rest days.4

We each have to run our own programs one way or another. I finally decided that I needed to be the world’s leading expert on me doing weight loss.
Why? Because I have to live with it and no one else is living my life. It’s a two lane pursuit- weight loss and living with it.
Maybe it’s the most brilliant weight loss plan ever. But what good is it if you can’t live your life while doing it?1 -

Right! I was flabbergasted. He said it would be good for me to “moderately” exercise 7 days a week by burning 500 cals per workout, OR exercise 5 days a week by burning 700! I barely hit 400 calories on my workouts right now. It’s just not feasible in my life and I wasn’t quite sure how to reply.
At first, I did ask him if it would be okay to stick with 3-4x a week but keep my same calorie intake/outtake and he said it’s a better idea to consume the same amount of cals each day and because I burn around 2,000 a day without working out, I should eat that much. It gave me anxiety tbh LOL

This is so well said. I couldn’t have formed the same words. I totally agree. I change my routine so often and can’t imagine needing to stick to the same thing because someone told me to. I didn’t want to disappoint him or seem like someone who didn’t “want to change.” But perhaps I was the wrong person to ask to do this. I don’t have major exercise/nutrition issues to begin with.1
