Its been really hard to keep on track if Im not starting my day off properly... just now getting back to it (again) but its become a problem that Im not really a breakfast person. I dont like cereal, oatmeal, smoothies, the only fruit I like is grapes and apples really... (I know, Im picky) so im running out of ideas for a healthy low-cal breakfast food! I've been eating bagels but they're really not that nutritious and Im getting kind of tired of them everyday anyway, lol. Hoping some of your morning favorites can give me an idea for something new =) Thanks!

  • im not a breakfast person and the best advice i was ever given was "so dont eat breakfast food" lol. Eat anything you want for breakfast, be a rule breaker :)

Thin bagel (everything) with peanut butter.

Turkey Sausage link and turkey bacon
  • I don't love yogurt but the chobani greek yogurts keep me pretty full so that I stay on track. Also try english muffin with peanut butter and sugar free jelly. It's more like a sandwich then breakfast.
  • I love Carnation Instant Breakfast. May not be the greatest option but it keeps me full and I dont feel like I'm "eating".

eggs. and my son had a turkey sandwich yesterday morning. Eat what you like. Don't worry if it isn't "breakfasty" enough.

I love breakfast food! Eggs, bacon, english muffins....etc! My dad hates breakfast, so growing up, i would see him eat steak and rice or last nights leftovers. To each their own....I think the most important thing is to get your metabolism going.

I'm not a big breakfast person either. I have one carmel corn rice with a tablespoon of peanut butter and it really fills me up until lunch!

Do you like eggs? I love a simple breakfast of 2 eggs over easy and a couple slices of toast lightly buttered. Add some coffee and I'm good to go.

Also, I agree with the above. Don't eat breakfast food if you don't like breakfast food. Try some wheat crackers and tuna salad or something like that.

Good luck! I love breakfast and I could eat it for every meal of the day, so I can see how it would be hard to try to substitute.

Today I had a grilled chicken breast with some tomato. My normal breakfast is egg whites with spinach, tomato, onion, green pepper, salsa and a little cheese. But I'll trade that up for Greek yogurt, oatmeal with almonds/walnuts, or just eggs and bacon. I try to keep it at 330 calories or less, and I'm doing the high protein thing.

I don't know if you have time to cook but I make my version of "migas" almost every morning: saute a corn tortilla torn into strips with chopped red bell pepper and onion, throw in some chopped tomato, then add two eggs, season with salt, pepper and cumin and scramble. I usually add a half ounce of cheese at the end. Comes in under 275 calories and very yummy!

I make a cheese melt with the high fiber Thomas English muffins (100 calories!) with a slice of skim mozzarella, a slice of tomato (or not!) and a slice of deli meat. I like turkey pastrami.

Nutella spread on an english muffin :-) I love sweet breakfast items and it's healthier than some other options (french toast, etc)
  • Try sausage links in a croissant. Add cheese for more protein. This will last you all morning and you can make them in advance and warm them up. I also don't like to eat in the morning....so I just drink a Slimfast shake. That actually gives me good nutrition and gets my body jumpstarted.

I love all breakfast foods! Things I've been eating recently are egg whites with laughing cow queso cheese wedge mixed in, bacon, English muffin with PB and honey, egg white and ham on an Arnold sandwich thin, or granola.

Since being here and eating 3 meals and a minimum of 2 snacks a day...breakfast is a must for me.

I make sure I have protein at each meal so for me I love this one:

    grate 1/3 of small potato
    grate 1/4 small onion
use TBS of Real Bacon Bits or 1 diced sausage patty (Jimmie Dean for example)
Saute in non stick pan until potato is cooked. ( just a few minutes ...you can crisp it up like hash browns)
    then pour
Egg beaters, All Whites, or a Scrambled egg over the ingredients in the pan cook til eggs done.
Sprinkle with parmesian or add some sliced cherry tomatoes or both...it is quick and delicious.

About 165 cals. YUM! and Satisfying.
  • I love bagel thins (110 cal) with laughing cow cheese spread on it and a side of fruit! YUM

Fiber One cereal (any of them are great but I really like the new one Honey Squares that is 80 cal a serving!) with banana and unsweetened vanilla almond breeze or fat free milk

    Breakfast Scramble made with:
    - 3 center cut pieces of bacon (70 cal)
    - 1/2 cup of southwestern egg beater (60 cal)
    - 2/3 cup Ore Ida Potatoes O'brien with onion and peppers (60 cal)
    - 2 Tbsp of light sour cream (40 cal)
    - red pepper flakes
    - chili sauce (optional)
    - you could also add salsa
    230 Calories total

Hope this gives you a few ideas

Shakeology. 150 calories and keeps me full while being easily portable. Sometimes I add a banana or other fruit and mix it in the blender but normally just straight up.

    Quote from recipe search:
I made these pancakes this morning, and they were so easy and delicious! Here's the recipe:

Mash about 2/3 of a medium banana in a small bowl. Add about a teaspoon of splenda and a few sprinkles of cinnimon (as much or as little as you like). Add 1/4 of a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add 1/3 of a cup of egg whites (I use All Whites from the carton). Mix all of the ingredients together, and cook up the pancakes in a hot skillet as you would cook regular pancakes.

I only photographed two of them, but I made 6 smallish pancakes and ate them all myself! The whole thing is only 111 calories, so that's 18.5 calories per pancake!!! The whole batch is 111 calories, 20 carbs, NO FAT, and 9 grams of protein!!
    End Quote.

Someone posted this recipe a while back and it has become my favorite breakfast! I use a whole banana and 2 large egg whites, then follow the rest of the recipe. They are wonderful! Sometimes I have them at night with a side of cottage cheese. It takes a few trys to get used to flipping them.
  • Kashi go lean blueberry waffles with sugar free syrup 15 cals and a couple of frozen blueberries microwaved in witht he syrup is under 200 cals and delicious

also 2 egg whites (32 cals) 2 turkey sausage patties (90 cals) 1 piece of weight watchers cheese (45 cal) on a fiber one english muffin (100 cal)
