Right way / Fast way

Hello everyone! I’ve teetered back and forth and almost caved to Optavia again. I know you lose weight FAST, but it’s not sustainable. It’s expensive, and the community aspect is overwhelming. Ironically, I’m coming here to seek community confirmation that MFP and counting calories is the right way, even though it’s not the fastest. Right?

Expensive, fast, and not sustainable all sound like negatives.
I don't count calories or weigh my food. I try to be careful in what I eat. Losing slow and steady, but that's best for me.2 -

MFP and counting calories is a healthy way (probably not the only healthy way), and it's successful for those who figure out how to keep it sustainable so stick with it. Usually, yes, that means slower loss rates, but means people can keep losing rather than starting and stopping hard-to-sustain aggressive weight loss.
Then, there's the "maintaining weight" issue. Most of us don't want to lose weight to a healthy goal weight, only to turn around and regain it. Personally, I looked at weight loss as maintenance practice, and tried to find and establish habits that would help me stay at a healthy weight for the rest of my life**. That meant I wasn't willing to do anything during weight loss - other than a moderate calorie deficit - that I wasn't willing to continue for the rest of my life. For me, that meant figuring out how to lose weight while allowing some food treats and alcohol, maintaining a good social life (including dining out), allowing feasts and celebrations, and more.
Would you plan to take Optavia for the rest of your life? Is that even possible?

No way could I follow forever, nor would I want to.

All of the above, plus those MLM weight loss products have a history of sending people to the hospital since the products are subpar and uncontrolled. Herbalife, for example, has actually killed people.

My goodness, I didn't know that about Herbalife! I did know it was all unregulated...you're so right. I think I'm winning the battle tonight!2
