Anyone else just struggling during this lockdown?

Hi MFP friends,
I just need some support: I am REALLY struggling right now. We have had been on lockdown for five weeks where we live, and they have closed all the parks, trails, and beaches. Meantime, I have four kids I'm now schooling at home who don't really want to be locked inside either (yes, I walk them around the street and play in the yard as much as possible, but it's still difficult to not have friends and an outlet in nature). I'm trying desperately to eat within my calorie budget, but just keep failing. I've gained about five pounds in five weeks. Ugh! Anyone else on here able to relate? I don't know how to talk myself up from here. I just feel defeated. Please help.

I can so relate! I’ve gained about 8 pounds!!!! I went out and bought a Fitbit to help motivate me to move more. Unfortunately I kicked it up from Best Buy (drop up delivery) on a very rainy day and the weather really hasn’t improved.

I’m back here trying to get back on track.

Ahhh heckatoot, yes. I'm cooking 3 meals aday, cleaning, laundry, doing the dishes and a little shopping whenever time permits. We take it back outside between spring snowstorms and blizzards. I find myself only thinking about today. I cannot prognosticate what tomorrow may hold so my brain is stuck in the now, today or present. I guess that's enough but our grocery store shelves are still empty. It's been that way since the beginning and we're making do but that's not going to be our reality a few weeks from now.

I have older folkaronies depending on me and I can be a bossy barracuda when I need to be. Let's get those meds taken at regular intervals and keep a routine. We're going to eat our 3 meals aday and be thankful for every single one of them.

I no longer care about foo foo food protocols or dieting in any way, shape or form. We just want to live, live, live.
There's always someone here to prop you UP when the chips are down. Tiny steps for tiny feet. Just keep putting one foot in front of the others. Hugs and kisses all around when we make it through to the other side of all of this.
    Intact. Hopefully. ;)

Thanks for the support! I found it challenging if not impossible to lose weight before all this, and now all the more so.

I am going to try changing up dinners to be more lean and low carb. And cut the evening glass of wine. It’s hard, but so is being fat.

Lol!!! I thought I was alone on this. I've gone from 199 to 212 since coronavirus lockdown. Before virus, I was working, seeing clients, walking the mall, going to the gym, doing grocery....ect. but basically being house locked most of the time, dealing with the mental aspect of it has been difficult. Not as much movement, coupled with stress eating and giving into my chocolate cravings has caused 13 pounds of damage. I have committed to going down to 1900 calories a day for a month. Hopefully with daily workouts I can shred off 8 pounds. One thing I learned for sure.......you can't out-workout a bad diet.
    Stay well. Stay safe.

Right??? I mean, being busy with life is what keeps me sane, too. I can't sit at home with my thoughts swirling around my head. I'm not the kind of person who wants to sit at a table and work at a puzzle. Working, building, helping: these are my anchors. Buddy, I sincerely hope (and will pray for you) that you can commit to the 1,900 calories. Throw the chocolate out! DO it! I threw out my wine and hid the remainder on the highest shelf in my garage, nearly killing myself, LOL.

Yesterday, after I posted, was a breakthrough day, for sure. I decided the wine and carby foods had to go and ate quite a weird dinner of Greek yogurt while the fam had lasagna. And I gave myself permission to be busy with things that seem pointless. I actually got out the blower--a machine I've scarcely touched because we are blessed to have a landscaper who comes once a month or my husband does it--and blew off the patio. I just kept going, cleaning up the yard from the storm, straightening, scrubbing, etc. I don't like cleaning very much, but this kept me busy and my options for keeping busy these days are limited. The kids were content doing their thing, and I need the alone time. So that was good.

Then we did a brave thing--I got snorkels from Costco and we went to this wildlife area by swimming since the park/viewing area was closed. This was totally legal, but terrifying! I thought I saw a crocodile, but it was slime, lol. When we arrived at the lagoon, it was incredibly amazing. We were rewarded with clear waters and tons of wildlife. Nothing like terror, adventure, and joy to make the afternoon pass. So, if you're reading this and feel stuck, maybe try doing something that really scares you. It sure distracts you and kills any feeling of hunger.

Soldier on, friend! You got this.

I agree with not having it in the house or making it so inconvenient that the temptation is lessened. Kinda of out of sight out of mind thing. Believe me if I had to go from my top floor down to the basement drag a ladder and dig to the back of the shelves it's not going to happen for me. Also busy work just keep moving greatly helps me too.

I'm right there with you OP. I have three kids here and it's been so loud in the house. The kids are so bored and I feel for them but I'm also losing my patience.
