Hi I have finally realised I’m overweight and decided to do something about it . I seem to lack motivation but know if I don’t change soon I won’t be around too much longer
It’s so confusing reading what you should eat , why you shouldn’t eat , what exercise I should be doing . I’m looking for some ideas . Note I’m quite a pickie eater so find it hard to choose meals .

There is a group for larger losers that have over 75 lbs to lose...it is a very supportive group and you are welcome to join us?2 -

To address your post...
"Its so confusing reading what you should eat"
Stop trying to find lists. All you need to do is eat the calorie goal myfitnesspal gave you, you can eat ANYTHING, that includes junk foods and take out. All you need to do is eat what feels nutritionally correct for YOU
"What exercise"
Again... exercise is for health, not for weight loss, myfitnesspal is designed for you to eat your exercise calories back, not use them to lose weight, so do whatever you like, walking is perfect.
Picky eater isnt a problem since you can eat anything you like within your calories2 -
What is your calorie allowance?2

The greatness of MFP is that you can eat anything as long as you fit in your goals and also you can workout any way you want as long as you do something. Get yourself a kitchen scale, take measurements and log thats easy ( a lot of people over here are doing it daily )0

The community helps to stay on track so add some friends. Good luck! 😊0

In response to Venus _1 I was not sure randomly asking to be people friends was correct protocol. Didn’t want to be viewed as some kind wierdo, randomly asking to be people’s friend .
Is there a protocol that is adhered for ?
Apologies for the tentative reply, but all little new ( cliche statement I know) , so want to ensure i fo things right .0 -

Well, sending friend invites to people you have had no contact with AND not adding a message explaining why you added them, isn't the best etiquette, I would say. So it's best to add the reason why you would like to add them as an MFP friend (for example finding their replies on the forum inspirational, having similar goals or experiences in life,...).
Other options: looking at the Motivation and Support subforum and checking out threads of people who are looking for friends and support and choose people who appeal to you (similar goals, similar interests, or whatever criteria seem relevant to you).
Or you can post a thread yourself explaining your goals a bit, who you are,... and asking who wants to be friends.
Good luck1 -
Welcome! You can add me as a friend if you would like!0

If I see a person that has an interesting personality/ similar goals/ just funny for instanse I send a FR. I also include a message telling where/ how I’ve seen that person.
There is no protocol 😏 just add people you like.0
