Tell me I’m not too far gone.

Sometimes at my current weight I feel too far gone for this process. Of course I know it is up to me and me only but today I just need to hear other people did it. I don’t know how to lose weight without some form of depression starting it. In 2018 I had a bad regain after quitting smoking and getting help with my depression. What was your highest and current weight?

Of course you aren't to far gone. If you put in the effort and time you'll see results. My highest weight was 225 after having my daughter. Current weight 207-208. My goal weight 130-140. I'm mindful of my calories, try to exercise, don't follow fad diets or gimmicks. Weight loss is slow and steady.

I’m 5’0 and my highest weight was 190. My current weight is 154. There was a lot of up and down over the years between those numbers. The lowest I got after gaining weight and then working on losing weight was 140. I’m back on the wagon again working toward 130.
You’re never too far gone to start losing weight. But I wish I had started a hell of a lot sooner than I did. Starting at 190 felt so much more impossible than starting at 154 this time around. It’s only got get harder and take longer the longer you wait to start.6 -
My highest was 260, that was in 2001. I lost 90 lbs over 6 years and kept it off for 7 years. And the last 5 years or so, I've been as high as 220 and as low as 175. Right now I'm 195, was at 175 in December.
Sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's easy.. just like life.2 -
My highest weight was 300 and I lost 165 pounds.
I regained to 262 and I'm down again to 247, you are never too far gone, no matter if it's the first, second or hundredth time13 -
You're not too far gone even though it feels like it. I feel the same way trying to lose weight I had lost years ago and having to re-do it aaaaall over again. It's tough as hell but we can do this!2

I know exactly that feeling.....like it's not possible, and it won't work fur me! But after my first week on MFP and adhering to the logging everything and sticking to the calories slotted , plus 30 minutes walking a day...I'm down 2lbs this first week?
So I guess it does work if you stick to it.

If I could lose from obese to a healthy weight at age 59-60, after literally 3+ decades of obesity, and then stay at a healthy weight for 4+ years since, I'd say you're not too far gone. (Granny-type advice: Don't wait that long. Some negative things happen along the way, for most of us who do.) You have decades' head start on me.
My highest ever weight was just a hair's breadth under 200, but I started the weight loss in 2015 at 'only' 183, which is class 1 obese, for me. I was at my current weight by the end of 2015. I weighed 132 pounds this morning, at 5'5", age 64.

You are definitely not too far gone. My highest weight was 171kg (im 175cm). Im down to 115kg. I did get down to 105 kg then got depression due to work and i went up to 120kg. I steeled myself, got a new job, and hit the reset button. Has taken me 4 years. It takes time, and *kitten* loads of self forgiveness. I remember stepping on those scales, i remember the long train ride home, and the thoughts of "holy fudge how am i going to do this? Can i do this?"3 -
I am 5’2” The highest weight I recall was about 155lbs but as I gain weight I stop weighing myself frequently so it could have been more. I am 140lbs right now. I am working on getting to 130lbs. It has been a slow journey. The thing that really changed my mind set was finding a sense of community at the gym and enjoying my workouts.2

You're not too far gone. My starting weight was 344 and I've lost 17 lbs in 6 weeks or so
Break it up into manageable chunks. I want to lost about 150 lbs which when I say that sounds too overwhelming and makes me want to give up. So I just focus on a stone at a time. As a stone sounds doable8 -
I second the idea above! Break it up into manageable chunks! I decided to do 10lbs at a time. Down 20lbs in 10.5 weeks, and it feels great! I’ll be honest, when I set my first “goal” of 10lbs less, even THAT felt daunting, because I was just starting out. But after a few weeks it all becomes a habit... weighing your food, logging it all, keeping track of calories-in. It’s now a mandatory part of my day and I actually really enjoy it.
I also recommend pre-planning your meals. At least a few of them. I usually plan breakfast and lunch the day before.
My current weight is 169.6 (every decimal point counts, lol). Highest weight 192, started MFP at 190 eleven weeks ago.

My highest weight has was literally two weeks ago. 273 pounds is my highest weight. From then until now I have lost 9 pounds!! I am doing it slowly not cutting too much out because that will set myself up for failure. I try to keep in my calories. The only thing I cut out has been soda! Add me if you want a friend to talk to on your journey3 -
Think about it this way.
If you'd have started this time last year, where would you be RIGHT now? Maybe where you want to be, maybe not quite, but a lot closer to your goals than you are today. Think about this time NEXT year. Do you want to be sitting at the same spot you're in now, or would you like to be closer to your goals?
You are never too far gone. Your dreams, your goals, do not have an expiration date.
That mindset ^^ right there, is what got me out of the start->fail->gain extra->start again process. Don't give yourself deadlines. Just take it day by day and keep working toward it.

Don't consider yourself too far gone...life is too long to think so little of yourself. Just think how long and miserable you life will be thinking your are worthless and that you have no control over your choices and habits.

I was 54 and in the worse shape and health last year at 280 pounds. In one year I went from 280 to 184 and currently 186 and holding for now. If I can do it you can do. it it's never too late, ever! Well, unless you're Pushing Daisies.6

I'm 4'11 and my highest was 201. I'm currently at 192. I'm lowest before my kids was 130. U never gone too far if u realize and want to make a difference.3

My highest weight... Idk tbh I think I maxed out the scale over 330lbs... Lost about 180lbs...
No goal weight but I knew if I could lose just 5lbs, I could add to my quality of life... And I never looked back6 -

It's never too late. And I say that as someone trying to lose the same weight I lost 2 years ago. And that loss just got me down into the overweight category. It's hard but the alternative to the battle is that my weight would just keep increasing. In a year, five years, a decade... immobility and terrible health issues. Those are the stakes. What does the battle look like? It's not dramatic. I'm recording my calories again - as consistently as I can. I went to bed instead of going to get potato chips. It's slotting a MacDonald burger into my allowance because I like fast food. It's more fish dinners because I love fish and it's a lower calorie dinner in a bad week. It's about finding a way to eat that is more 'custom eating plan' than 'diet.' My guess is you think a diet is about steamed chicken and broccoli for life. It isn't (well, maybe it is for some). It's about finding a way of eating that fits with what you like that you can sustain forever. And then your weight drops off, slowly. Don't give up. Is there one strategy you can try to Start? How about pick-it-and-stick-It for breakfast - find one meal you love for breakfast that fits your daily allowance and have that every day. Six weeks from now, do more. I think this struggle requires a terrier-heart - a small, relentless, yappy dog wirh teeth that keeps circling and attacking regardless of the size of the enemy. Persist!3

Remain hopeful is what I always say! I’m in a 15 lb gain and this thread gives me hope too. Got to believe that you are NEVeR too far gone.1

Times I ask myself am I past the point of no return? And then I remember no. Because no matter what, as long as I can try and stay within calorie limits, I can always lose weight. I might not always stay in my calorie limits and it sure is going to take time for me to lose weight, but I didnt get this big overnight. You can do it. You just got to keep going.2
