No I'm not talking about some chocolate flavored drink or anything like that (which I have been consuming on a regular basis), I mean real life honest to goodness milk chocolate. We had bought some "chocolate frogs" from the Harry Potter area at Universal and my wife, son and I chose to split one. My piece has been waiting for me almost a week now and I haven't really had a craving for it. That alone is very surprising to me because my family line includes a grandfather who worked many years for Ambrosia, and passed on many recipes to me. So if there is one thing I appreciate and love, it's good chocolate.

Anyway, I've had a good day today, good long high intensity ride this morning made for a huge calorie deficit so I figured what the heck. After all, I don't want the thing to get nasty sitting too long. So I had it today, and I was really good. However, unlike in times past where eating some would have led to more, I was able to just enjoy it and feel like any cravings are satisfied for a while now. That's quite a change for me. This is also a great example of what I preach all the time, you don't have to give up your favorite foods to be healthy, just learn how to consume them in healthy ways. A smaller portion consumed on a day when the rest of my diet and exercise allows for it. YAY!!!!

:) Yay!! I have chocolate every single day. You know, a hershey's bar is only 210 calories. It's not so hard to squeeze one into a normal day for me if I eat a light lunch. :P

Good for you!!!! I'm so glad to hear that the one piece didn't lead to cravings for more.... that is usually the case for me. I have not had a piece of honest to goodness milk chocolate since July 12..... and it amazes me, too, that I can walk by my co-workers candy dish and not grab 3 or 4 pieces like I used to. But now, maybe.... just maybe..... I'll try a piece as a treat now and then! Thanks for posting! And so glad you enjoyed that chocolate!!
  • I have chocolate every day too. we have these choc treats in Nz that are mostly marshmallow with a tiny bit of caramel and covered in choc. they are 55 cals. i like to have one with my coffee after dinner. If I'm super organised and have saved my cals I have a few squares of dark choc instead

I like to eat an oreo cookie every night to help get my medicine down. Only 50 calories!

Everything in moderation. If we deny ourselves for too long, then we will go pig out and that is not good.

I have chocolate too at least once a week - at least:) Good chocolate (toblerone or an organic fair trade chocolate of some type) doesn't have that many calories, is very low sodium and is Real Food.
  • I have found that organic, fair trade, dark chocolate works so well for me. It's delicious and a square or two completely satisfies my chocolate cravings. I found some individually wrapped dark chocolate squares. 50 cals per square make for a nice treat.
