What did you think of the Choose MyPlate from the government? Did it seem realistic? What was your experience with it?

    It was helpful in teaching my children and myself about what a true portion size is for each type of food. I still fill my plate with half veggies, a quarter of protein (mainly vegetarian options because of a family history of heart disease and colon cancer), and a quarter serving of a starch (usually whole grain or an ear of corn. I substitute soy milk for the milk option and drink lots of tea and water. I usually add a fruit serving as dessert or a snack. Keeps me on track (with occasional lapses because "it is a pandemic and sometimes you need comfort food." Down 9 pounds since the Stay at home order. My goal is to come out of this in great shape with a normal BMI.
