I am a training physiotherapist with a sport therapy background - looking to hear from people’s excellent weight loss stories, and benefits of exercises! Feel free to add as a friend and spark a discussion 😚

exercise makes all the difference! Not just in burning calories, but in how your body is shaped and how it looks. Muscle also burns calories more than fat, so the more muscle you can develop, the better your metabolism!
I had stopped exercising and was eating a very high calorie and high fat diet. I wasn't even trying to stay slim or healthy. On Memorial Day 2020 I decided I would get back on track and I have lost 14 pounds so far. I walk most days for an hour and I have started doing yoga and some strength training too. I feel so much better and people have started to notice and say I look better too.1 -
Exercise is great for weight loss and for keeping limber. I have had lots of trips to the physiotherapist. I was an athlete growing up and as my one physio guy said I would just deal with the aches and pains while competing but now have to deal with them
I had shoulder surgery in October and ended up recovering to almost full range of motion because of my general level of fitness. It seems a bit brainer for me. Staying fit helps me focus and makes me feel good so I do it and luckily it's beneficial1 -

Sounds like you went through a lot! It defo helps to keep fitness levels up when facing surgery! Lets hope the patients I treat take on your helpful message! Great work though 😚

I now participate in sports with 60, 70 and 80 plus hear olds. Staying active is the key to a good life I really believe this. Heck it seems like me who is 20/30 years younger has more injuries than these older folks. I do have a tendency of going too hard then fixing the damage but it's the only way I know and I keep physiotherapist like you in business! Haha
My protocol for my shoulder recovery was crazy, my physio person hadn't seen anything like it before but since I don't like to fail I managed to make it work and the surgeon at my 3 month follow up was pleased. My physio lady worked hard with me and took it on as a challenge herself I think and it was great cause we really accomplished something. She seemed really pleased that she was part of my quick recovery (i tend to recover quickly for some reason but I'll give her tons of credit)0 -
Hope I dont get a bucket of disagrees, but here goes.
Exercise is the only way I have been able to lose weight. It seems like if I cut calories without exercise, my body just shuts down. I sleep a lot. I don’t move much when I’m awake.
If I add a little gentle exercise when I cut calories, like walking, or a dance class for fun, my body knows everything’s all right.
I have energy, sleep well but not too much, and lose weight.1 -

If that doesn’t scream an amazing recovery! I don’t know what will! I am so happy you took her advice and you’re will and determination to recover! Only you can help yourself and it seems you have found your feet!
A huge tool part of any physios toolkit is exercise as this is the only thing “that I can think” off which is not harmful or has any adverse side effects “within reason”!

I agree! You need calories they are the fuel! People think not eating will help lose weight! In fact your body will need to use those calories to help metabolise! Exercise is the way forward with a balanced diet!
