I'm a medical transcriptionist and work from home, but unfortunately my profession is rapidly dying due to the new voice recognition programs. Just had the "VR is coming....look for another job" meeting at work today.

I run a residential program for court-involved 17 year old boys. I assist them in finding jobs and getting their GED before being released back into the community

Kudos to you. What a rewarding career!

I'm another CADdy; AutoCAD and Microstation for an engineering company that deals with instrument and control of mainly mine sites, gas rigs, etc... Stuck in front of my PC all day too, boo-urns!

But I like to earn a few extra bucks now and again doing photography, LOVE that. Wish I could do it full time.
  • Maybe it's because I'm unemployed, but all these jobs sound interested, especially the investigator.. I'm so bored of not having a job. I was fortunate to be able to quit my work before and go back to school and how I'm in the search. Always getting the "your over qualified" You're under-qualified". or my favorite "you don't have enough experience". Duh, how do they expect one to get experience if they don't give you a chance.... I think it was a mistake to quit the work i was doing (retail) to go back to school..
  • I am a Deputy Sheriff for GCSO
  • I am a nanny of twin 3 month old babies!
  • I'm a unix systems administrator. I work in an office full of engineers and make sure they can design computer chips and stuff. My commute's less than a mile and I can swivel in my desk chair and see the ocean :)

I LOVE my job and the people I work with. Going into work every day and knowing that I'm valued and necessary rocks. We work hard, we laugh, we have fun.
