I am looking for other people to connect with and help motivate each other with fitness goals. I'm not good at connecting and I find it difficult to follow the longer threads so I thought I'd try a new one.
I am struggling staying motivated with making dietary changes. I do really well for a few weeks and then the novelty of a new app or fitness routine wears off and I want to eat for comfort.
Please feel free to join, tell your story, or just say hi.

Hi! Lynette here. I struggle with avoidance personality disorder, so it makes it very difficult for me to force myself out the door to exercise or get any kind of daily steps in. I use AirPods to somewhat distract me from my anxiety but it’s not always fool proof. I manage to always find an excuse to not go do it. And it’s making me feel shuttered. Anyone else struggle with this?1

I have struggles like that. I try to go out for walks where it's quiet and at times few people are around. Some times I see people and they smile and it helps me the next time.1

Your comment about trying something new, then losing motivation when the novelty wears off, sounds a lot like me. I struggle with needing support in this, but not having the greatest social skills to build an active base of friends.1

Struggling with motivation when the novelty wears off id personally say is lack of commitment to yourself.
You can't see it as some "fad diet" if you choose to take this on, you gotta be prepared for the long road. Because even if you lose all your weight and you achieved your goals.. whats next? How are you going to maintain your success? By continuing to log at a maintenance level. You can probably cut yourself a bit of slack by then but realistically, but to keep your weight from coming up again you need to keep your control.
Don't see it as a diet, see it as a positive lifestyle change.
I know its easier said than done so my advice is when the novelty wears off, keep going anyway. You didn't join for the novelty. And it will take time but soon, it will become normal to log your food and not a chore, you need to try make logging a habit. Some days you may not log and thats fine, life happens, sometimes you plain and simple can't be bothered and thats okay for a day or so or short period.
Why are you all here? Really, why?
What thought made you sign up for an account and start logging? Are you hear to start another diet that you're gonna give up? Is that why you're here? Or are you here because you're ready to lose weight no matter what it takes?
ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR WHY!
I'm no expert, but i hope this helps!0 -

My boyfriend has a personality disorder, not the same one but his also comes with anxiety and social anxiety. So I have atleast a basic understanding of what it must be like.
If you can get on walks with your airpods, great! But if you're struggling one day, have you tried a home workout?
I have 3 kids 6 and under and can't afford a gym, but there's lots of youtube videos that use no equipment! And you can jump around your lounge like a sack of potatoes with no care in the world.
I get on edge about people "watching me" if I catch someone doing it I have to say stop looking at me lol and its always my bf doing it lol so the gym is hard for me even if I could afford it, so i found an alternative that suits ME.
Theres loads of ways to do things, you just gotta adapt it to you and your own comfort zone!0
